The Religious Mask

  • Religion is only the Mask to hide behind

Why must people use religion as an excuse to fight against fellow human beings ? Religious differences is not the reason we see what we see in our world today. For no relgion preaches hatred towards others. It is just a mask to hide behind. One used by people who are raised on hatred. Hatred not thought to them in any bible. Hatred thought to them by parents and teachers who themselves were raised on the same hatred. But this is not a religious hatred. Because the religions don't differ in what they preach. This is an ethnic hatred. A hatred that has more to do with ownership of land than any one God. Be it the Muslim, The Jew, The Catholic or the Prodestant. They all have issues somewhere in the world. One against the other. In some country at this very second another body will fall. Be it this country or your country. Religion will be used as an excuse for that killing. Not the fact that the person who fired the shot has had hatred instilled into him since he could first walk. This is their education. How to carry a gun. How to throw rocks and petrol bombs. Had they ever got a chance to see the real world outside of the world they were raised in ? Some never see love. Some have never seen anything other than war. So they will grow into the ways that are all around them. That was meant to be their life from day 1.

In the western world we like to use the word civilized. As we bury ourselves in our material goods. We never think to look back at history and see that this is not just a problem in the age we live in. It has been a problem for centuries. Hatred of this group of people or that group of people. The sollution throughout history was always death. From the dawn of time civilizations have been wiped out. They said in the name of God. But would God command armies to invade far off countries on wild crusades and then slaughter the local population ? The same God of love and happiness. The same God most Catholics pray to daily. Or was it greed by those who ran the house of God ? Therefor not the religion itself. But the greed of people. People who wanted to expand their own power throughout the world. Those who got in the way were those who paid the ultimate price. They too had never seen the wider world outside of their own cultures. But back then they lived in harmony with the land. They worked as a unit to grow crops. Not expecting this tidal wave of hatred to sweep through their lands. Man's greed and man's hatred has sent many to their death. From the Astecs, to the jews and the Native Americans. Just for being different. To expand their lands. To fill up their pockets with the riches that greed dictates to them.

But such acts we can read about in the various bibles too. The killing of the first born child by Hered. As he tried to stop the birth of Christ. Catholics were punished back then. Then Catholics went on to be the punishers. Or those who hid behind the name of the church. So what is new in the world we live in today ? Has there ever been a time when this hatred never existed ? The lands in the Middle East were the lands of the bible. Today they are still fought over. But is it really for the religions ? One God in many bibles for the various religions. His message is not going to change from bible to bible. It is the cultural differences that must be looked at. Not the religions. Look through the eyes of the various cultures. Explore their lands. Their ways of living. We all differ from one side of the world to the other. But some of us have never seen war. Have not been raised on hatred. We live outside of all of this. We are blinded by the life we live in. And arogant to not see that history has left us a lesson. One of hatred. That if we hate so will those who follow in our footsteps. No matter what race or religion we belong to. If we want hatred we can find it and use it. But that will make us no different from those we are meant to be putting down because of their actions. Hatred has no shape or form and doesn't come in different levels. They hate. We hate. We are both hating. We are one in the same.
