  • Here's a Question for You
What do you constitute as ? Does that mean: 1- letting someone do whatever they want with absolutely no discipline, 2- fixing up after all of your mistakes, 3- expecting nothing at all from you, 4- forgiving for any reason.
That is not love. That is called taking advantage of someone. So many people think that if God loved us then He would let us take advantage of him.

Maybe you should reconsider your definition of love and exactly what it is that the Most Wise One is doing.

No. God probably doesn't love me. I'm like the f***ing anti-Christ to most people. But still, if he really treasures us people, he loves unconditionally and knows that by giving us free will, we're going to have pre-martital sex, smoke a little pot, spread a little gossip, bag tag the guy that pissed you off. And if he's all he's cracked up to be, he'll be forgiving. He told us HUMANS to not do this, don't do that, yet he made US human...No one (human in just about every case) is perfect.

So we can be Mary Ingalls: Patient, gentle, perfect, kind.

We can be Laura Ingalls: Stubborn, adventurous, envious of Mary.

Or we can be like Lena from On the Shores of Silver Lake: Adventurous, exciting, ambitious, obnoxious, fun, daring.

    I for one choose Lena.

We can live forever in Heaven, or we can die and burn.

    I for one choose death.

  • Wasting not only your time but everyone elses' as well.

    *sigh*

You know, you're really just wasting your time. If we have answers we believe, then we do. If we don't, we don't.

As it was said earlier, it's called agency. We have the ability to choose everything we do. It's not God's fault pretty much anything happens, because the final say is usually a human's.

I don't exactly see why you even put this up. You're not looking for an answer for yourself, but rather trying to change the beliefs of others, which is pretty much a waste of time.

  • Answer!!!

*God loves you...* but listen to him or he'll send you to a firey pit to spend eternity in agonizing buring pain with torture and fire forever and ever.

-Well, it is true, as stated above, there are rules, which God himself has clearly set out long ago! Of course, there are gonna be consequences for breaking these rules, and, as we are all only human, we are bound to sin many times in our lives. Forgiveness, which is pretty mush stating the obvious, helps us become forgivin for sins!

*God is all-powerful...* but famine, poverty, torture, hate are all ramptant on earth. Bad things happen to good people, and good things to bad.

-Some of these bad things happen for the reasons stated above, but they also serve another purpose: to bring the unbelieving to Christ. Bad things happening to good people, these people, if they have recieved Christ, are rewarded after death with eternal life in heaven. As for the people doing the bad things, as it is sayed, no sin goes unpunished!

*God is all knowing...* but he just can't balance a check-book!! He needs your money--- so fork it up into the colleciton plate!

-As stated above, since the church doesn't just get money, it relies at least somewhat on donations. Of course, this is totally optional, many people choose to do it to help their church!

*God is merciful...* But his followers like to kill each other over land, beliefs, and cartoons.

-If when you say his followers kill each other, you mean the different religions that worship God, namely Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, they are not exactly the same, and conflicts can arrise, although, I do agree with the answers above as well. They don't kill each other over cartoons, and I would like to know where in this world or the next you got that idea!

I hoped this cleared some things up!

  • I dont know but i will attempt to answer your questions from a Christian viewpoint

Imagine you have screwed up greatly, your parents/flatmate/partner has kicked you out of the house. You have no money and nowhere to go. A friend calls and offers you his place to sleep. He tells you you can stay as long as you like and you dont have to pay him a penny. All you need to do is follow his house rules. This sounds like a pretty decent friend does it not? It is certainly above and beyond the call of duty as a friend. This is how God is viewed by many christians (obviously with much higher regard) but the analogy still stands.

Now whatever your views on hell (mine is that the christian hell is not a place of suffering but merely the absence of god which christians believe would be hellish in itself) God would be offering an alternative to hell- heaven. Rather than a threat about going to hell for not believing it is giving a chance of redemption and going to heaven instead of the only other place which is hell.

God would have no need for money but the church does like any other organisation it doesnt take money from taxes so it requires donations.

Many would disagree with you that the people killing over such things are true followers. Again you say that his followers not god himself do these things. These people are a minority and following those lines you could say that atheist murderers are representative as atheists.

God is all powerful but the bible tells us why these bad things happen - it is a combination of freewill, sin and corruption from the devil. God loves us equally and he would not just bless those who are god although he loves goodness.

As i am an agnostic i do not believe in god but i attempted to write this in a christian view. This is only what i believe christians feel about their religion

if god exists he loves you. how else would you be able to go against his will and him not kill you on the spot. plus you are talking more about religion then God. two simple truthes if God exists ofcourse... one he loves you that is why you dont burn up each time you sin... two he tells us the the best way to live our lives is to love all religions say this except the ones that are going against religion.

Yes, God loves us. He is our heavenly father. He gave us a brain to make our own choices. We can make the choice to follow him-heaven or we can make the choice not to-hell. So it's your choice....

yes man...of course God loves you...He loves everybody, its possible that people may feel that he doesn't at times but those are just Gods little tests that proves to him wether or not your a worthy, good and faithful servant...I mean he sent his son to go through what we dont have to. That would be very selfish to think that you should have thiings easy...The hard times are merely tests...Just be strong youll see how much God LOVES.

*God loves you...* but listen to him or he'll send you to a firey pit to spend eternity in agonizing buring pain with torture and fire forever and ever.

Your parents love you, and they also know what is right for you almost all the time, so listen to what they say and if you disobey out of selfish desire you get punished. That is the way the world works, when you do wrong, you face the consequences!

*God is all-powerful...* but famine, poverty, torture, hate are all ramptant on earth. Bad things happen to good people, and good things to bad.

God gave us all free will, and with that free will we have wreaked havoc onto the world, and because God gave us the power to make our own choices, we make decisions that lead other people and sometimes ourselves to poverty, torture, and other things as well. Also, you wouldn't want God to be communist...

*God is all knowing...* but he just can't balance a check-book!! He needs your money--- so fork it up into the colleciton plate!

God doesn't need your money, structured/organized religion does, and when you give that money it usually goes to the poor, and its people like you who keep the poor in poverty by hoarding all your money to by you twinkies and ho hos for comfort!

*God is merciful...* But his followers like to kill each other over land, beliefs, and cartoons.

God gave us a choice, and most people make bad ones.

    Challenging enough?

  • Oh please....

Substitute the word God in most of that with Man is responsible for it. Furthermore God does not send you anywhere, or make you starve or get cancer. Man did it to himself or causes it to go on and God has been spending our human existence making subtle corrrections._______________________________________________________ You see; it is not so easy to re-create a perfect world, while we are in it, at the same time, messing it up. 6,000 years to re-create what took five heavenly days(5,000years) to create the first time, with us not in it yet.

*God loves you...* but listen to him or he'll send you to a firey pit to spend eternity in agonizing buring pain with torture and fire forever and ever.

~As the person above clearly stated, there are rules to follow. There are punishments for breaking rules. Carrying out that punishment does not necessarily mean God, if this being does exist (I'm still trying to find my happy medium when it comes to religion...).

*God is all-powerful...* but famine, poverty, torture, hate are all ramptant on earth. Bad things happen to good people, and good things to bad.

~As they say, God works in mysterious ways. Humans have sinned, even what one may consider a 'good' person. That means even those who seem like good people are not immune to bad events happening to them.

*God is all knowing...* but he just can't balance a check-book!! He needs your money--- so fork it up into the colleciton plate!

~That is the choice of the church, I am almost 100% sure on this. And, the worshippers choose to pay. It isn't a requirement. Usually, as far as I know, that money is either going to build more churches, fund church activities, add to the church the donators belong to, or to charity. Maybe more.

*God is merciful...* But his followers like to kill each other over land, beliefs, and cartoons.

~It's called free will. I never heard of God commanding anyone to go out and kill. And I do believe in the Bible, God mentioned killing is wrong. ::Shrug::

I guess that's all I really have to say. I know these things because I was brought up to be a Christian, seeing as my family is Christian...but...I suppose I'm just on a self quest to find what my beliefs are.

  • I have been doing some reading
And starting to believe that the doctrine of hell has been far purported beyond what is shown within the Bible. The most tangible evidence for its existence is when Jesus speaks of a pit with 'many gnashing of teeth' and references to a lake of fire. But yes, I am beginning to challenge my beliefs, and am unsure as to yet what specifically to believe in this department. Hell has always been the subject in my life that has held me back from God (among a few others). It may be time to be done with the whole idea.

God DOES love you which is why He has given you COMPLETE and ABSOLUTE freedom to do what you wish even if that means forgetting Him, or killing others. Go ahead try to let Jeffrey Dahmer butcher and eat a child right in front of you even if you had a shotgun loaded with you. You can't do it because you cannot love Jeffrey Dahmer. God LOVES Jeffrey Dahmer. THAT is ultimate love.

*God is all-powerful...* but famine, poverty, torture, hate are all ramptant on earth. Bad things happen to good people, and good things to bad.

God is all-powerful because He GAVE AWAY ALL His power to Creation. Give your life for someone you will never know. THAT is power.

*God is all knowing...* but he just can't balance a check-book!! He needs your money--- so fork it up into the colleciton plate!

God IS all knowing because He KNOWS NOTHING. Go ahead, try to know nothing. I triple dare you. YOU CAN'T. The only time you will EVER be able to know nothing is when you die and return to God. Again, I dare you: know nothing, nada, zilch, zero, 0. That is an impossible achievement. The best anyone can ever do is know 1, as in non-duality. Only a few in billions of humans who have walked across the face of Earth have been able to accomplish. Buddha and Jesus are the two most famous.

*God is merciful...* But his followers like to kill each other over land, beliefs, and cartoons.

God IS merciful... His followers know words that men have written. NONE of His followers KNOW God. They THINK they do. Knowing God can never be done via the mind, brain or thoughts. Any thought of God is FALSE. The ONLY way to know God IS TO BE GOD. When you are God you know that "followers" were there all along to help you realize who you truly are. Without them, you'd still not know the final Truth: God is merciful.
