Should marriage be treated differently to other relationships?

I believe that God wants us to live with our long term partners and stay faithful, but the legal sense of marriage should not be treated as better than other relationships. Basically, unless you’re doing it for the kids (stable relationship), religion or money I don’t see why you’re doing it. Since marriage isn’t a guarantee of stable relationship you shouldn’t argue it’s for your kids. The financial thing should be eliminated so that there’s less pressure. What is it that makes marriage so special?

Everyone has the right to marriage, but it shouldn’t be treated differently, unless the only different is that marriage is a long-term bond of eternity.

supposedly forever so it should recieve more respect as it matures and lasts longer and longer but other than that is it a typical relationship.

There is no evidence, of course, that marriage is more than a human institution. The vow is unto death, not an eternity, generally. With more than 50% of marriages failing, it is clear that it has become an unnecessary institution. For those of you who follow Jesus, Jesus said “Moses gave divorce because of the hardness of your hearts.” Men were the only petitioners. This was true until 18th or 19th century. WWJD? Jesus upheld Moses’s law. Note, the law was Moses’s, but upheld by Jesus. The law was basically if you were tired of your woman, dump her. Now it works either way.

Yes I mean any and all of them, from acquaintances to familial, romantic, and especially marriage. Marriage seems like the worst. It is so expensive and complicated to get into and divorce rates are climbing, and it is expensive and generally more complicated to get out.

yeah, my husband can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, but he's my partner in life. The love we share and the vows we took are the foundation of our family. As long as we both took our vows seriously and are willing to live by them every day, our marriage will last. A lot of people are too selfish and put themselves above that commitment that they made to their spouse to hold their marriage together. That's why the divorce rate is so high. When it comes to marriage, you need to constantly remember that the love you share with your spouse is a gift and should be respected and nurtured everyday, not just when it's convienent.

i believe that mairage is nothing more than a good way to give the goverment money think of it, god will bind you forever, people will belive that but if it is a matter of god why are there devorces and why do you have to pay. i am not in any religion with god but i don think there is no price to get gods blessing, well maby 1$ just for the paper but they have no right to charge anymore
