  alrite you confess your sins to God.God forgives us but if we go around doing things over and over agian then that is wrong God knows your not sorry. example : If your in class and a teacher says stop talking and you i am sorry and do it again you really did not mean the i am sorry. This does not mean you go around killing people doing bad things and ask for forgive ness and your ok if you sed sorry .Nooo But Christians make mistakes just becuz your a christian doesn't mean we are perfect.   Confession

  One does not say, "Father I have sinned. I killed someone" and thats the end of it. You confess and then you pray for forgiveness, and then you repent. These three together are labeled "confession." That's how it relieves you of your past sins.

  View from the middle: A confession in the tradition of Augustine

  I would love to be able to title this meandering of philosophical expression, "View from the mountaintop" or even "from the eye of the eagle," but no, I haven't "got there" yet, so here goes, my confession, the telling of a life now arrived toward the end of my forty-fifth year on this earth in the present form. My form, a bipedal humanoid one, is augumented with a two week growth of beard, tinged in two spots with white hairs, and a thick pair of sunglasses, even though it's night now, because another pair is in the pickup truck, and I don't remember where are the other pairs I keep on hand. Tonight I am confessing to you, my fellow human beings(1) and at least some gods and goddesses, in the tradition of the early Christian church I am confessing to this community, one of my chosen online places for writing. I'm awake at the moment, four minutes till three in the morning, the day after Saint Patrick's day. I would have gone to the Parade in Savannah, I think, had it not been for me being called to substitute for an economics and computer applications teacher. But as I told the janitor, the kids are more important (than my selfish pleasure).(2) I listen presently to "Jazz through the night," with Bob Parloche. Just heard from Russell or Wesley Malone's "A playground," --the radio is not up too loud lest I awaken my bairn, who just got put back in bed by his ma, who's out delivering news now, in paper form, with the wee lassie. For those used to narrow and clear focus, I beg your forgiveness and your pardon, and I hope to make amends for my rambling by getting to my main theme, which is on what is confession, and why do we do it, and how. I made my first confession before all of my peers, who did theirs in the third grade. I did this at the behest of my mother, to whom I had already confessed that I had known of the flesh of another woman, a girl the age of eight or so, when I was five. My horrified and mortified mother led me to the priest, we talked, in her presence, and voila' my first confession. I never heard a word more on the subject from my mother till about four years or more later, when she explained more on the birds and the bees, and about her and da. So... yes, I am a Roman Catholic, or perhaps more accurately an Irish Catholic born by a lady of the landed Creole gentry, descended from both Basque and Castillian petty nobles, and Irish and Scots burghers. A little before selecting this thread on which to write, I lay awake in my bed, pondering my purpose tonight, when I decided I would work more on my goal of finishing my "thank you notes." I decided to do a few to people whom I had offended, to thank them for whatever was good about them, and to also ask their forgiveness for wrongs I had committed to them, in the spirit of the Lord's Prayer.(3) So I will now go and tap out the first draft of my thank you note to my redneck neighbours, the ones whose lads have shot holes in my windows, and perhaps another to the man who refused to grant me full time status at the warehouse. If it were not for him, I might not be trying as hard as I can to be a writer, a published writer, with a full and more polished opus. I will return to this thread at a later time, perhaps when one of you reply to this portion of the debate or conversation, whatever you want to call this thread on "confession." (1) Paul and the early Christians made regular use of the community confessional, a sharing of one's own admissions, something akin to what some of us do these days in the 12 step groups and other "rap" sessions and healing circles.
