Why do humans fear machines with brains?

There now is the technology to create a 'virtual human' which reacts as a human. It reacts to drugs in the same way as a human, bleeds like a human has all the features of a real human, except a brain. The creaters fear that if they were given brains they may be uncontrollable and aim for world domination. Why do they fear this, though they fear not the idea of a human, which would react like the 'virtual human'?

  • have you seen this boy?

I am looking for John Connor. Tell me where I can find him.

  • Let me see it

I would love to see a link to this information. Is there an article or something that shows this? I had no idea our biorobotics were this advanced. And yes, giving them brains would be a horrible idea. Odds are they are not created from the same tissues and DNA, but from synthetics. Therefore they would not AGE like humans. That is on top of a whole lot of other reasons not to give them brains. Still, post a link to this 'virtual human.' I would love to read about it.

  • Sci-Fi

Sounds like a cyborg with an emotion chip inserted.

I've never heard that one before. I've heard just MACHINES period and fear of them taking over...but nothing about like one like a human.

  • Nope

This is ridiculus, a robot can only act how it is told to act. It has no self-awareness. This is also what makes humans different from animals. While animals may or may not have a -small- amount of self-awareness, humans are entirely self-aware. Society can sometimes water this down, but it doesn't change the fact that we are aware of who we are, especially because of the fact that we question WHAT we are. A robot won't question who or what it is unless you tell it to.

There is a possibility, I suppose, that we are all "robots" and that someone is controlling us, but if we were, do you really think they would be allowing us to become aware of ourselves? Unless it's just one mad scientist controlling us all. If there were a race of "humans" and we're the robots, they would most likely fear us as we do the robot with a human brain, unless there was some piece of knowledge we're not aware of.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter, we're here and like this no matter what. If we are robots then it's pretty much impossible for us to break our bonds. But we probably aren't robots.

  • We're supposed to be the most intelligent life form
I think human's fear machine's with brains because they're (and when i say 'they're' i'm referring to those people who are) unwillingly to believe that something (or someone) out there is more powerful/intelligent than them.
Seriously. Think about it. Look back with me on the history of mankind and let us reflect on all of mankind's marvellous creations. We ARE the most intelligent form of life on Earth. We discovered gravity, harnessed electricity and evolved into who we are today over millions of years of progress, learning and growth. So to think that someone (or something) out there is more powerful than us, is truly terrifying.
I think it is the fear of being ruled, of having to serve a higher being. I think that, having seen what other's around the world have been forced to do (and throughout history), we are scared that the democratic society we live in (where equality and freedom reign freely) will crumble and turn into nothing.
And i think that machine's with brains is probably the worst one could imagine: they'd be devoid of emotion (and therefore strangers to mercy and forgiveness) and immune to disase and death. Thus, their reign would be forever as they'd be too smart to outsmart. And so we'd be doomed to a purposeless world of ritual and slavery (my apologies for the somber note)
