Nature or Nurture?

What is it nature or nuture which makes us, us? This topic and question has been around for what seems forever and i was wondering what do you think?

  • A Bit of Both

I personally think it isn’t down to one or the other, it’s a bit of both. I think you are born with general traits because of genes and things like that. But the environment also has an effect on how you as a person can turn out.

  • Homosexuals prove it

At one time people felt it was the “gay gene” that made homosexuals that way. We now know there is no such genetic. Everyone in society is socially conditioned into playing certain roles. Surely a retard is incapable of playing the role of an inventor (as he is a birth defection), but the able bodied people all fit into a mold.

Homosexuals created a newer theory that we are all born asexual and through social conditioning we become one or the other. Nature has little effects like those of defects but in general social conditioning is a far stronger theory.

  • It's mostly in the genes

Every genetic trait is some combination of your parents'. Personality, resistance to disease, tendandancies to be similar to parents all comes from genes. The environment plays a big part when it comes to learned skills, memories, and life experiences.
