Let's look at the world like it's a giant set of balancing scals, shall we? Now, we can all agree that, to some extent or another, we are all equal. But how is this displayed on the Scales?
1) Some people are on one side, everyone else on the other. This maintains a balance on the scale, thus showing that we are all equal.
2) We are all on the same side of the scale. This means that we are all one and the same, and thus equal.
Now, I ask you: Which way do you see it?

We are on separate sides of the scale, and as such create a balance.Voted for by Mad-Hatter.
This is how I look at the scales. I see that we are all on one of two sides, maintaining a constant balance, thus showing we are all equal. Financially speaking, five pennies and one nickel are the same. Therefore, on the scale, one side would have a nickel, the other five pennies.

We are all on the same side, therefore one and the same, and as such equal.Voted for by Mad-Hatter.
This is the second option. When I say 'we are all one and the same' I mean to say in yet another way that we are equal. Such as you may put only nickels on one side of an actual scale, and only pennies on the other. No matter what side you're on, you know you are all worth the same amount because you're all on the same side of the scale.
