Why does god make us suffer for the sins of one person (if you beliieve in god, that is)

If he is such a great and wise and all powerful god, why would he want to punish mankind just because one person ate a friggin' fruit??? Is that a valid reason to make us all live on earth? If god wanted to, couldn't he just absorb us all into heaven so every person that ever was, is, and ever will be, be truly happy for the rest of eternity?

  • You have your facts wrong

First off - it wasn't just a fruit. He told them not to. They had the choice of not eating it, but they disobeyed God. You should learn to study before jumping to conclusions. Now, even if adam and eve hadn't eaten of the truth, there's a good chance that someone in their lineage would have disobeyed this command and thus sin was going to enter into the world. Now, about everyone going to heaven... only perfect people can go to heaven. Sadly, we all have sinned at some point in our live and thus all deserve to go to hell. Thus, Jesus came to make us "perfect" so we are able to live in heaven for eternity. You have the choice to believe.

Now, another point to make - God is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present... everywhere... God is God. Plain and simple.

  • Who cares?

God's friggin' God! He doesn't need a reason! He can do whatever the heck He wants whenever the heck He wants to whomever the heck He wants and never tell us why. Assuming we would even UNDERSTAND His reason, He's still under no obligation to explain Himself to us. And it doesn't matter if it's a valid reason in our eyes or not. In His eyes telling God you're not gonna listen to Him is reason enough to punish man.

  • Because

Perhaps it is because he doesn't want to. But why wouldn't he? He/She/It is a good being, right? Ponder that for awhile.

  • Not punishment.

God did not punish us when A&E ate the tree of knowledge. We cursed ourselves into an un-perfect situation. God being pure rightiousness cannot stand in the presence of un-cleanliness. When A&E ate the fruit, they disobeyed and thusly, formulated a sense of guilt and shame(new emotions for new sinners). The negative energy that develops from sin is, spiritual energy that is un-clean. Thus God has spent milliniums fixing that sin with us in the way at the same time. _____

Defining chastisement: Chastisement is much different than punishment and those who are chastised, have asked for that right, by making that personal choice. chastisement is simply a way for God to correct us, steer us in the right direction, so to speak.

It is our choice ultimately; whether we wish for judgement and consequence, in the end of this age.

God judges, but we choose the punishment over the rewards.

Our choice for absence of God in the end age. God has told us plainly, in His Word; that He cannot stand with us, if we choose to remain un-clean. That is what Hell is.

  • I Agree With....

I agree with whoever posted the topic Who Cares? God is God, he can do whatever his big heart desires. But as I am catholic, and I have been force fed this for the past 15 years, I am able to make a VERY infomed choice. It wasn't Gods fault that Adam was a bad influence, or that Eve subjected to peer pressure. But in chosing to disobey God, who had made life set for the 2, they chose I life of sin for all who followed them. And on the other thing, anyone can chose to repent, and therefore get a ticket into heaven. To take a line from the movie Contsantine, "Each one of you granted redemption from the Creator - murderers, rapists, molesters - all of you just have to repent, and God takes you into His busom. In all the worlds and all the universe, no other creature can make such a boast, save man." That is true, and if everyone, even on their dying breath, said, God, please forgive me, then there wouldn't be a soul in hell.
