How is it that all of a sudden there is this Anti-America wave? What do you feel about America?

I'm not a racist, nor am I xenophobic. That is a matter I state quickly so as not to give the wrong idea. In the WWII America came and saved the day, so everyone from that period, parents or grand parents, love America. America, the awesome power that lent a hand and saved the world. After, America was the place to be, still new, up coming, making business, great inventions. So that age bracket also thinks of America with a smile. So what changed in this generation?
In this generation all the secrets have come out. Secrets like selling weapons to both opposing sides during a war. I don't call that business, that is heartless! Is money all that is cared for nowadays? If so I hope the Apocalypse comes sooner. And this whole thing with Saddam. Yes not a perfect guy, no problem, given. But I'm sorry, who sold him those weapons?
America is the only place I know where a large percentage of their own people, don't like it. You may argue that it's like that everywhere. UNTRUE! And if not untrue, it is certainly not as obvious. Americans (as shown through media and conversing) don't like their nation. Explain that to me. Also explain how good presidents have been assassinated. The rubbish ones were let to be while presidents like Lincoln were assassinated. In all fairness this last comment is slightly void since I don't know any American History in detail seeing of course that I'm European.
Also why is and has America always been so obsessed with war? Again one might argue that war is alll aorund and everywhere, but I think America must hold the trophy.
Truth of the matter is whatever you agree with, that America and Americans have gone down in people's books. This is not my opinion, this is a fact. I just think it is such a huge shame how one of the greatest nations has been reduced to, well.... I don't know pick a word. I'm not JUST talking about Bush (though he may be the root of all this and by him I mean government). That in itself is a whole other subject, and would mean going off topic. This is my question "why?", "how?" and "what do YOU think?"

Look first of all let me say that i'm british so i suppose this is an outsiders veiw.
I think anti-americanism is fairly common nad has been for years,
lets deal first with the second world war. I would like to start by saying we would not of won the war without you so thanks, but i think the problem with that is it took so long to get involved, would have been won sooner and a lot less people die if america didn't have such an isolationalist veiw on the world, secondly its the way history is portrade in your films etc. Its like no other country was involved and america did everything. ok anyone seen the film 'U571' fun film but the problem is its an american crew who capture the 'enigma machine' from the u boat. this is not true is was british and Canadian crews who captured the enigma machines allowing the codes to be craked. So i think it so be realised that you probably couldn't of one it without the other allied forces, and thats unfair to all the none american people who gave there lives too in the name of freedom.
Ok also i think the rest of the world is astoned by the general level of ignorence among the population of america which i think is generally regarded as uneducated, and this leads to a problem when you start telling the rest of the world what to do. America is also seen as a land of extremes, i think someone mentioned earlier about the bible belt etc. Also it a problem when telling the rest of the world what is right. OK why america does not suck. The very fact that we can all talk like this. The fact that you went to war with use( the british) ove rthe principle that there should be no taxation without consent. The fact that america is in a position to show the world and take an oppurtunity that we missed. WHen we were the most powerful nation. About the importance of freedom. But there in lies the problem is you in the end can only show not dictate,or bully and above all you must listen, which seems to be americas biggest problem at the moment.

America does use a million times more than their share of resources and does meddle in everyone elses affairs, but who doesnt? America is supposed to stand for its people…a land of the prejudice, racist, and most selfish people in the world. We have a president who started a war to look good for his father, and now he cant undo the countless mistakes he has made,including our ever growing deficit, and whats worse is that we re elected him for another term….. That is what America is…if that “sucks” then so does every other nation that has lousy politics.

Anti-Bushism is what’s going on. Conservatives are referring to the hate of their party as the Hate of America. This is an attempt to label the liberal dissenters as unpatriotic. If the opposition is unpatriotic you must then side with the state. It’s the patriotic thing to do when you are an uninformed and angry citizen consumed with manufactured fear and hate.
There is no Anti-Americanism here or abroad. There is in fact Anti-fascism worldwide that is focused on America because of Americas Neo-con leadership. When the fascists are no longer in power (if we are still alive) the world will stabilize once again. Nobody hates Germany anymore.
How can someone not like America? America knows no party and no religion. America is the arena in which philosophers create and the people vote for change.

America is hated not because they suck, but because they are best. They are superior to all cultures, all societies, and all nations. America uses more of the world’s resources, contains a multinational spirit, and maintains strong control of media. It is in these things as well as others that make it so great.
People hate America out of envy. Others become Americans. People fear indoctrination of the superior. People hate indoctrination of the superior. They feel that being indoctrinated they are some how losing something by not gaining. For if you give a child a slice of pie, he will want the whole pie. This is how the world works. America gave freedom to Western Europe, Italy, Japan, Africa, and most parts of Latin America and because of this they hate America.
Many parts of the world imitate American lifestyle. America’s unique presidential is the most common form of democratic government in the world, even larger now then the Westminister model. France’s integrated system is only shared with Germany. The EU has decided to imitate America’s presidential model.
Most of the world has imitated America’s “entertainment-style news reporting.” American Idol has spawned all over the world in the forms of “Canadian Idol,” “Australian Idol,” African Idol,” and such. I realize that it started as Pop Idol yet it was when a nationality was adopted to it that it gained its popularity.
America is the centre of free trade. Yet even the Chinese Communists have adopted free trade. Even the totalitarian and oppressed countries have made it so that free trade is there way.
People do not hate America because they suck. No people either hate America or imitate America because they think it is better than them. If one hates what is perceived to be better than they can build from it. They can try and create something that is independently better, but with all of their hate they will be incapable of doing so.

America is the nation most likely to cause armageddon, even if they themselves do not fire the first missile. It is a gluttonous nation, using up more than its share of world resources, and continues to damage the environment of this planet. America is a nation of hypocrisy, steadfastly maintaning its right to do as it pleases while willing to interfere in the affairs of the entire world. They supported the terrorists they are now waging war against.
America however is no different to any other western nation. It has simply travelled further down the path to its own destruction.

America did not save the day in WWII, the Commies did
A part of the history that Americans rarely get to hear about is that it was the Russians, not the Americans who decided the outcome of the war. Hitler focused 90% of his forces in Russia and 10% in France and foreign colonies. America fought against less than 10% of the German fear. It was Russia with pure passionate patriotism and feirce determination that were capable of breaking the Germans at Stalingrad and moving into Berlin. This is one of the problems with the older generations. They could not recognize the contributions of the Russians because as soon as they took Berlin they became enemies.Kazrith

Certainly there are many.........
.....things that US can improve on. That can be said of any political entity. However, the fact of the matter is, as an entity the US does far more good than bad. Sometimes the political powers that be get a little over zealous in their actions but the soul of the nation, it's citizens, are generally a good bunch.May 6, 2005

Those weapons weren't sold to Saddam to use on his own people. Ever seen pics of all the Kurdish children with massive deformities from exposure, both pre- and post birth? He had to be deposed. Americans (a minority) hate their nation because of sensationalist news that only reports doom and gloom and blows it out of proprtion, as well as pitting one group against the next. Great presidents like Lincoln who thought federal law was more important than state rights and was willing to kill over 700,000 Americans to prove it? Lincoln whose war was so unpopular in the North that he had to exploit poor Irish immigrants to die by the boatload just to get someone to fight for his cause? This nation hasn't been reduced to anything. It gets bigger and better by the day.
