There's this ex-lawyer (he was disbarred for perjury) turned Baptist minister named Fred Phelps, whom some of you may have heard about. he's making a name for himself going around protesting at funerals and harrassing the mourners, with his GOD HATES _____ signs. first he picked on homosexuals, but now, because of some beef he has with the Bush administration, he's turned his evil eyes toward the families of those men and women who have died in the country's service in Iraq. Should he be allowed to continue this campaign of hate and discontent, or should we put him out of his, and everyone elses, misery?

every time I hear the name Fred Phelps, I shudder.
I know i'm not supposed to hate, but I have to be honest- i hate him! I hate what he does, I hate how he makes Jesus look, I hate his self-righteous arrogance, and that wife-beater leer of his. what i hate most is the fact that he is so chicken-shit, he can't face people when they're alive! he has to wait until they die, then show up uninvited and harrass the grieving families. that's as low as it gets. I hope he never comes to my town, because I would hate having to do life in prison, because i could'nt stop myself from using my 12 guage instrument of divine justice to shut him the up. I wil say this, though. when he finally does croak, i'm going to show up at his funeral and take a dump on his casket.

DEAR REVEREND PHELPS18% Voted for by NeferMaatNetjer, verses on flesh.
As udersecretary to His Infernal Magesty, and member of the board of Directors for the College of Temptors, the focus of my work deals mainly with the performance of devils- temptors, to be exact. Seldom do we here in Hell recognize the efforts of humans who are still on Earth. Even so, it is my great privledge to write to you this letter of recognition, for all of your good service to the cause.
Every year, we lose hundreds of homosexuals to the enemy, when they find their "lifestyle" (My how I love that word! with 2 syllables, the words "life" and "style" combine to imply that homosexuality is a choice that, once made, MUST be for LIFE, and that it is a point of "style", like wearing blue jeans or patent leather shoes) unfulfilling, and begin to look to the enemy for answers. Your ministry has tought them that God hates them, and so often they believe you, and they react just like any person who is hated- my hardening their hearts to the one who hates them. Thus they staunchly defend the "lifestyle" they had begun to question, and stay out of the enemy's camp, knowing they are not welcome there. Others, on seeing how zealously you torment families of the dead at their most vulnerable hours, turn away from the enemy out of not wanting to follow your example. Not only do you keep homosexuals safely focused away from God, but you make it harder for that "other group" of Christians- those who actually do follow Christ, to convey the message of the enemy to those who have not yet recieved it. Often, we hear in hell these words "if Phelps is a Christian, I don't want to be one!" A sentiment we of the temptors college relish!
Principal Slubgob and I agree- your methods should become required reading material for the college! You have done more to further the cause than the most jaded athiest or debauched hedonist. even those who call themselves "Satanists" have done nothing like you have for our Father. Principal Slubgob and I look forward to meeting you when it comes your time to join us.
in closing, I say keep up the good work!
sincerely yoursUNDERSECRETARY SCREWTAPEFor his infernal magestyLUCIFER -

This is a so called "testimony" on fred phelps site- please excuse the language (i have only copied what is written)
"If it's ok with you, I would like you guys to post my story on your site like you did with that other guy. Here is my story below, feel free to correct any spelling. I am not afraid to have my name in there, so feel free to print it.
I am now 55 and I have AIDS, my reward for a life of faggotry and promiscuity. In my lifetime I have had nearly every venereal disease you could imagine, but none of those could stop me from my life of sin.
I got involved with sodomy at a very young age. My neighbor was an upstanding person in the community. Everyone loved him and his wife. At church he was almost a celebrity. But what I found out that his wife had not, is that he was a faggot, leading a hidden lifestyle. One weekend, my parents thought it would be a good idea for me to go camping with my neighbor while they were out of town. It was a horrible mistake for all of us.
Alone with this pervert in the woods, there was nobody to stop him from exposing me to sodomy and all manners of perversion. Years later, those events damaged my psychological development in high school. I could never maintain a healthy relationship with females. But things got worse in college.
When I was a senior in college, I met a professor that was a faggot. He began telling me that what I was feeling was "normal", and that those who opposed this sort of behavior were neandethals and backward. Soon we were having a relationship. It was then that I had considered myself gay.
What I want people to know at this point is that the gay lifestyle is not some kind of mirror image of the heterosexual lifestyle. It involves multiple partners, anonymous sex, and many perversions. It seemed that I needed to experience more and more perverted activities to be satisfied. Among the ones I could mention here are pedophilia and beastiality.
So I continued in my life of faggotry, never truly happy. I claimed I was proud of it; I marched in parades and chanted the slogans. But inside I knew there was something wrong. From the first time I called myself gay, I had always turned to drugs to take away the pain of my sin. If I ran out of money for drugs, I thought nothing wrong about going to the nearest rest stop or public restroom, and offering my services to strangers. Nothing the gay movement could tell me could make me happy the way the drugs did. They said that the lifestyle was becoming more accepted, that we were going to be accepted by the country as normal. But I knew I was not normal, and I suspected many others know this too.
Still I was involved in the lifesyle until March 24, 1999. I had in and out of doctors' offices for years, diagnosed and treated for ghonorrea, scabies, and lice. I thought I had hit the bottom when diagnosed with herpes in 1995. But on that day in 1999, I learned that I had tested positive for HIV. The worse thing is that with the lifestyle I was leading, I could not tell you who gave me that virus.
The reason why I am writing this, and using my real name, is because I want everyone to know the truth about his lifestyle. I no longer care about what happens to me. I will be dead soon, and my family disowned me long ago. I am ashamed of what I did to them and god. When I was lying in the hospital bed about a month ago, I learned that what I had done for years was a sin.
Now I felt better knowing that I was right to doubt myself back then. I have repented to the Lord and know that while my sins are now washed clean, my duty in my final months on Earth is to warn the world, especially young males, about the danger of homosexuality.
There is NOTHING normal about it. The media tries to portray faggots as being entertaining, funny, and just like everyone else. But that could not be further from the truth. I know because I have been there. Not a day goes by that I don't regret my sins of the past. If just one afflicted person reads this and changes there ways before having to suffer the pain that I have, then I will consider my holy mission accomplised.
(What a load of total and utter b*llocks)

I Hate Him TooVoted for by sjrlink100.
I don't agree with his actions, but techincally, he DOES have a right to peacefully petition. As long as he's not interrupting the funerals, he has every right to protest it in a peaceful way.
Sadly.

Live in the now.Voted for by verses on flesh.
The many things this guy preaches are old testament and taken out of context. Not to mention if you really look at the passage that stated this it actually says "mankind" not a man. "Mankind" would imply more than one partner. Not a male partner. Just more than one. Just as they ommit the other 600 and some odd commandments and the fact that Jesus came along and told them that actually there were more and basically there was no way on God's green earth anyone was getting into heaven if they were being graded by it. Not to mention this rule was made to keep Isrealites heads on straight during a specific time. When Caaines and Pagans were influencing a lot of people. And they had sacraficial sex and all of that crazy hippy Aliester Crowely stuff.. I don't know. But the point is this was meant to something specific for specific people. And while God wants us to do good things, it won't decide if we are saved or not. I mean Jesus was on the cross when that theif asked him to forgive him and Jesus told him "Today you will be with me in Paradise" do people honestly think he followed the commandments? Only one innocent person was slain that day.
