"Teachings that don't speak of pain have no meaning..." Is this true? Can we learn from our past mistakes from the pain we felt then? Will it keep us from repeating?

GENERALLY, this idea is true. But it's not a stonecold fact that we need to adhere to and go crazy about. Purposely experiencing pain to be better. Dismissing all arguments that don't stem from pain. Truths can exist outside of it, and certainly without experiencing it.
But yeah, pain is a tool. Even physical pain teaches us not to do things bad for us again. Emotional pain should be the same.
HOWEVER, there are things like...getting a shot. This hurts, but is good. Loving people can often hurt, but there also benefits to it. What you need is to get smarter and more adaptable with love. Careful with your feelings, accepting of the true nature of things.
