i live in mass. wich is ground zero for this debate. i was watching the tv after gay marrage was ruled on by the mass supream court and a black preacher who was active in the struggle for rites for blacks came on the news that in his opinion the two are not the same.

different but equaly importent25% Voted for by bob2314, Order of Chaeronea.
the same stupid laws that prohibited blacks and whites from marrieing are now being used agnst gays. the same arguements are being used. 1. if you allow gays to marrie you will have to let people marrie various forms of domesticated animals 2. if you allow gays to marrie the end of western civilasation will be the result. 3. if you allow gays to marrie you will have to let multipal partners marrie. while i dont think that boath struggles are the same thay are of equal importance.

In my view, no.25% Voted for by looking4realtruth, soldier4christ.
Rights based on an unchosen trait like color are not comparable to rights based on a chosen trait like homosexuality. But the big debate it whether or not homosexuality is or is not a choice. There have been some studies that have shown that there may be influencing hormonal factors while in the womb but this is not yet conclusive. And since the burden of proof rests on proof of the existance of a gay gene rather than the proof of the non-existance of a gay gene, it is by default non-existant. So far.

pretty much...25% Voted for by NightmareAnatomy, Order of Chaeronea.
my mom is a lesbien and she wanted to get married to another woman but wasn't able to as the state in which we live wont allow it...i can with all of my heart say that gay people and gay couples have it worse than do black people...they were never kept from being with the one they loved...but i must also make it clear that i am in no possible way a racist.

Ok, I COMPLETLEY agree with that. Blak rights, gay rights. I agree more then u know. Theres more rights that people are so unaccepting of they dont even make such a big deal about it because thats the way it "should be". Well...:
Wiccan rights- or judgment- has been made into so much fiction (not that thats ENTIRELY bad) that if people ever here that there are people oput there that actually BELIVE anything along that, its just Horrible, unheard of to them.
What about Musslisms, you all know they may different from you, you accept THEM. Same with Jewish people, as well. And Catholic, Budism, ect. (cannot think of more at the moment)
Ok, heres how i see it: First, you all can't accept people tha are different, so there "witches" and there burned at the stake. THEN, you all can't accept AFRICAN people, so you make them POORLY treated slaves and STILL treat them like crap even AFTER slavery, even to this day, and decide to make some wack job group that burns THEM at the stake as well. So now the big thing is homosexual people that you just cannot accept because there DIFFERENT. And dont say its becasue of who they like, because you dont seem to have as big aw a problem with swingers, or strip clubs, which is much more "wrong" then people simply being attracted to the same sex, so NOW y dont you tell me whats wrong? The world isn't perfect, we arent perfect, and we can only do our best to make it the best we can. And for all you ppl saying "the bible says..." yeah, well, they pretty much broke the Perfect world thing at about the very beggining of it, and isn't there a verse, no, a Comandement, theat says "Do Not pass Judgement" as well?... SO could we all PLEASE, try alittle less to try and FIX the so-called "wrong" people in this world, and try and be a little less Racist??

Faulty Logic
The argument "not all homosexuals are black, and not all blacks are homosexual" doesn't make sense with the premise. There needs to be more of a premise. The argument only works (kind of) if you assume the premise is correct to begin with. I don't agree that the premise is correct, therefore the arguments presented don't make sense, especially in the context of a Venn Diagram. Conclusion here: The entire sentence presented by Gary is false because it doesn't make sense. Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
