  • He's not...

Could you expand your question? I don't even know where to start. But because there is no single issue here to clarify I'll just say He's not cruel, simply just.

  • man is cruel, god is not

most of the cruelty God is blamed for is really the work of man. God gave us his laws to protect us, not to bully us around, and when his laws are obeyed, his blessings are upon us, but when we forget God's laws, and follow only our own selfish wants, then we reap the consequences of our actions. There is a reason God forbids extra-marital sex- to protect us from diseases like Syphyllus or AIDS. There is a reason God forbids pork- pigs are carrion-eaters, and their meat is full of worms. There is a reason God forbids stealing, and lying and murder- these things are intolerable in any society because they do harm to others and dishonor God. Sometimes it seems as though God rewards evil and punishes virtue. That is not the case. those who do evil are give time to repent, and turn from their evil ways. they do not always do so, and therefore face Gods judgement when they die. similarly, God allows the good to be tested and tried, for only by endurance can they be strenghtened. When you see virtuous people suffer, do not blame God. Instead, comfort them and help them, for God may be building them up for a much greater purpose than we might know. Look at the apostles. all of them knew the sting of persecution-most were put to death! Jesus Christ, the very son of God himself was beaten, flogged, and crucified. following God is not easy, but it is worth it in the end.

  • God is the Most Merciful

This world is mere trial and Almighty tries us to reward us in the world Hereafter. He has blessed us with countless bounties including life, health, eyes, brain, heart, hands, home, parents, siblings, friends, food, shelter etc etc etc...We must be grateful to our Lord, rather being thankless like Satan, Beelzebub and others!!

  • An explanation

God is cruel because people suffer and die even outside the realm of free will. Innocents starve and get incurable diseases. People die or are severely injured from accidents. Many debate and some even kill over hot topic moral issues such as abortion and the death penalty or abortion, and He never feels the need to come and tell us the way. People fight wars in His name. People persecute others for not following their rituals in worshiping and praising someone who, in all likelihood, doesn't need it.

Everyday I pray that this is simply something I cannot comprehend just yet, and it is not an injust cruelty.

  • Neither Man or God are Cruel

Its just a balance... you cant have good without evil, you cant have love without cruelty, you cant have light without dark, you cant have life without death. Everything is a balance and no matter what you do, the balance cannot be destroyed.

  • He's a Holy God Indeed

Ok, so explain this one too me somebody. I was at my friends funeral the other day. He was only 20 years old and what we like to call an "empath." He always put everyone else's feelings before his own, and was so compassionate I truly believe he could physically feel his loved ones pain. He fell asleep at the wheel while on the way to visit his family after several 12 hour shifts. There I was paying my last respects, when my ex boyfriends child- molesting, wife beating father showed up sobbing. And I was thinking about this. Some god we have. My friend, one of the nicest people I ever met, died before his 21st birthday on his way to spend time with his loved ones, and this asshole who isnt even worth the air he's wasing being on this planet, who has done everything possible to fuck up his own health, will probably live until he's fucking 70.

Yes, I am an atheist and yes, I can never fully relate to you, but I will explain my point of view and try to relate it anyway:

Your belief is that of straight Christianity, correct? (Maybe you're Jewish, you didn't specify, so...) That's fine, there's nothing wrong with that. But what IS wrong is directing a source of this cruelty towards the God you worship instead of towards the ignoramus's who take their religions too seriously or quite simply have nothing better to do than to create pain. Why do I think people create pain? So that others may physically relate to THEIR inner pain. My constant relative argument is that people should believe what they believe FOR THEMSELVES. When you start focusing on tradition and scripture and arrogant boisteurism, that's when you lose sight of why you even started believing in the first place. If you want peace, you have to practice peace, and not just according to your own religious code, but to EVERYBODY, regardless of race, gender, religion, mental capacity, wealth, wisdom, sexual orientation, or even age. Vis a vis, know why you're doing something before you do it.

  • No cruelty, only reality.

Before I begin, XxBloodyWristsxX, I believe christians think his existance pretty much just began without any goading other than the "Almighty" himself. My opinion is he was simply an excellent magician and was conceived under normal pretences, but that's a bit off topic. I don't think whomever you choose to worship is cruel, he's just letting things play out. He "created" you, it's your job to do the rest. In other words, both shit and life are tough, get a helmet.
