Religous battles

Okay it's a fact that more wars were waged, and more blood shed, in the name of God than anything else, the second is money.

Well why?

  • Faith

If the three major religons: Christianity, Jeudaism, Islam all beleive in God (Allah) then why should it matter how you get to him.

If the purpose of practicing a religon or having faith is just to get to God why should it matter how you get there.

If everyone who beleived in God could just accept that they ALL want to be with their 'Creator' then why do they have to fight over minor ritual details?

I think that if every religon beleiving in God would just accept that God was God and God was good no matter how you reach him, there would be less conflict.

Iraq and Iran are fighting, have been for hundreds of years (I could be off on that) over land that they say was promised to them by God.

Pety wars, God never said to kill, Allah never said to kill...so why do they think killing in the name of God is justifyable?

I think it's manipulation, I beleive in God, but I think killing is wrong.

The 10 comandments say not to kill, the Qu'ran says not to kill...so why do they do it?

If more people beleived in 'Faith' instead of nit-picking at anothers religon there would be less war.

The problem with religon is that all religous texts are open to interpretation. Apart from the ten commandments you can make almost any thing said mean what you want it to mean. I've said before you could take 4 leaders of the same religon get them to read the same passage from that religons holy book and they will all give you different ideas about what that passage means. Its not there fault its just human nature. My fav example is in the bible where it tells you to turn the other cheek if you are struck, a peaceful person will say this means never strike anyone no matter what the provocation. The bible doesn't say what to do if they strike you again so another person might say if they strike you again then not only are you permited but you are required to strike back at this person and his family to teach them the error of his ways... more to say but feeling lazy

  • Not Only Religion

Religion may cause a lot of wars, but that is not really the cause. Humans have been fighting nature, animals, and themselves since before religions even began. If say religions were totally banished from the world, then people would start a war over nationalism, or because of money, or oil (hint hint). Look at WWII, as far as I know, that was not a religious war. I think the immediate cause could actually be pinned on nationalism, could it not, because of the murder of the Duke. I'm not sure, I could be wrong.

Anyways, with or without religion wars would be fought and lost. Humans are instictivly territorial animals, and they fight like rats when cornered.

As to the why...well, religion is the best excuse to get pissed off. If you fight in the name of your god, then suddenly you're a martyr and a hero in the eyes of your people. If you fight a war for money, you're a greedy bastard who only fights for himself. Fighting for god is just a way of rationalizing your crimes and making yourself feel better.
