Clones can be exact duplicates of us, but is it possible to transfer our mind to them? Would that be us?

I suppose this would qualify as both a society topic and religious one, because many believe a soul is what makes you, you. But if they copied your brain perfectly, and inserted into a clone of you with complete memories, would it be you? When the clones eyes open would it be you thinking "yes it worked" or would it be another you?

  • Impossibility

In a way, I think this is a paradox, to be able to copy the same person, because if you were still alive and aware, but your exact mental copy were in a clone, how would you experience conciousness? Confusing.

  • hm... interesting idea but no.

cloning is a very controversial topic. youd be correct in classifying it in society and religion. one of the main reasons human cloning is put on hold is because of the morality of it. clones are just the copying of DNA. an exact replica of a living being. in cloning, there is no way that a clone can have the same being as its main host. brains are far too complex and we still dont know everything there is to know about them. theroretically, if a human clone were to exsist it wouldnt start off just at the age of its host. it would go through the life cycle starting from being carried in a woman's womb to being born, so on and so forth. so autoatically we'd have to hypothesize that its memory wouldnt be that of ours. though i would think that our memory would appear to the clone in some form, possibly bits and pieces or flashes. but not enough for it to make the clone seem as its host. however, cloning humans was intended to be how you mentioned: an exact copy of its host - mind and body. however our mins out think our technology and actual understanding. overrall i have to say no, a clone would not be "me" if i were to be cloned. in some aspects yes, but not enough.

  • look up "identical twins"

having the same DNA does not manifest in access to each other's brain (thoughts).
