My opinion towards this is simple: why seek perfection when there is no such thing? Those who go under the knife to improve a body part is only asking for more trouble, plus, to me, it feels as if they aren't happy with themselves. More to the point, is that if you aren't happy with the way you are now, then what's the point of trying to be something/someone you are not

Perfection is the impossible goal of a possible quest40% Voted for by Potus13, Weydon.
In a sensible pursuit of perfection we can only better ourselves. For example, last year I lost approximately twenty pounds; while I never got a 'perfect' body, the mere development and progress that I saw was more enjoyable than I think the ultimate result would have been, had I attained it.
To push yourself to the pinnacle of success is nothing shameful. When you are disapointed to the point of depression at your failure to reach it, that is when it starts turning negative. Overall, however, the dream of perfection is what keeps the pioneers of the future working and what keeps society from stagnation.

No offense but your argument seems a little scattered. I do agree we shouldn't be perfectionists, but that's probably where I'd draw the line.
I see no shame in striving to make yourself a better person. Even your proposal in stopping the silly pursuit of making yourself "perfect" is in fact a call for people to change themselves into something better and different than they already are.
Plastic surgery? Meh. I think it's sad that more people can't be happy with themselves, or work for certain achievements. Most times it's entirely unnecessary even in aethetic aspects, these people just have low self esteeem.
On the other hand...few people object to people going through "unneccesary" surgery in order to fix a physical deformity or burns from a fire or something. These people are still fully functional, yet we feel bad because of how disfigured they are and usually will have nothing to say against them for trying to look "normal". In a sense, how is this any different than someone fixing a nose that's supposedly too big or something? It's all about what you feel you live with it, and it IS you're body. So whatever.

...of course it's overrated.
For starters, one could simply argue that life (on earth, at least) has no meaning, and as such, all pursuits for beauty and perfection are pointless. That aside, however, it's still completely silly to seek perfection. Our years on this planet are so limited that there are an infinite number of better things to do than to seek perfection. The best thing someone can do with their time here is to find inner joy. And I don't mean the false self-satisfaction of getting a nose or a boob job. I mean pure, unadulterated JOY.
And, true enough, perfection doesn't exist for us mortals anyway. It's a lost cause.
