if we banned the consumption of meat we would litterally be killing off many societies. just think what you would do if you couldnt get all your amino acids. horrible deaths would occur because in todays society it is easy to go to the grocery store and buy things like corn, rice, potatoes, tofo and beans. not everyone has excess to that kind of food (ie. third, forth, and fifth world countries). not only that, if we banned meat, our governments would collapse. without the money from meat production, transportation, preperation, millions of jobs will be lost.
so it is not only bad in one view but in many.
i personally enjoy meat and almost all kinds of it. we must eat to survive but if everyone went towards the veggitarian lifestyle our forests would be cut down for crops because we are sapping the soil of all its nutrients.
banning meat consumption is litterally impossible.

Nothing wrong with eating meat. It's the killing that is problematic. Humans are able to understand life and death in a way that's probably unique in the animal kingdom - and the top thinkers, most of us in fact, consider life to be of great value. Which means to kill any creature should be avoided if at all possible - always.

I mean, it's not like other animals don't eat meat. Some are herbavores, yeah, but we are omnivores. That's just how it plays out. Personally I don't like the taste of red meat or fish, and I don't like to eat drumsticks or anything that looks like the animal it was. But I don't see a problem with it, I eat burgers every once in awhile, whatever. I wouldn't make others eat like I do, I eat chicken and feel NO GUILT!

MEAT!Voted for by pure-spirit.
COME ON! BANNING THE CONSUMPTION OF MEAT! Banning the consumption of meat would basically be taking away anyones right to eat what they want. If you banned that, you'd have to ban lots of others stuff. Basically, the whole world would become a society full of robots! Not to mention, vegitarians are hideously outnumbered so when it came to a vote, meat would win easily!!! I suggest that you start thinking about the consequences of banning meat. Do you REALLY want to take away peoples freedom like that!?!

Why are animals here then?Voted for by Sunchild.
Personally I see nothing wrong with eating meat. If it's wrong to eat meat, why are animals here then? I know some of you will be thinking, well then why are humans here? Well, first of all, humans are different than animals. I know this might shock some of you, but it's true. Humans have will, while animals have instince; plus we have a soul something no animal, no matter how inteligent has. God placed animals on this earth to be used not just for meat, but also for labor, and companions...Of course they're only to be used for when necessary, using something wastefully is wrong. I totally respect some people's choices to become vegetarians, it shows they have truly tender hearts, but for the rest of us who like steaks, I see no reason for condemnation.

Not if you do it to liveVoted for by Dienush.
I'm a convinced vegetarian, but I don't think it's really wrong to eat meat, as long as you only do it when necessary. Even the idea of eating meat sounds disgusting to me because animals are alive and they feel, almost like us. But plants are also alive, they move and they have their own simplistic psychology and all. But I do eat vegetables because they probably feel less and I need to survive. So if I can accept that, I can also accept that many people eat meat, though I would prefer it if they didn't.

OK, if everyone turned veggie, and then learned to tolerate grass....none of us would starve...I mean...grass is everywhere!

I am a vegetarian by personal choice. I do not think it is wrong for others to eat meat though. I choose not to because I don't have the heart to consume another's flesh. But that is my personal opinion which I would never press on someone else. I was raised by hunters, almost every male in my family hunts. Our ancestors ate meat to live, we as a race would not be here without it. It personally disgusts me, but I would never stop someone else from it and I will feed my children meat so that they will grow up healthy and they may choose whatever diet want as they grow older and can form their own opinions. Animals are killed for many reasons, and I will wear leather because I believe that nothing should be wasted if it is slaughtered for meat. That would make it a killing mearly for food, and waste the rest of the animal. I cry when I see a dead animal on the side of the road. I save smaller animals from my cats. But again, that is my personal beliefs and I think everyone has the right to live as they see fit.

Animals eat meatVoted for by Sankofalokumbe.
Like someone stated up there, many animals eat meat. We need meat just as much as lions and many other carnivores. If we need to become vegetarians, so do they. Just like they wouldn't survive on veggies only, neither would we. Besides, everything in this world serves something else.

Treatment is PrimeVoted for by david13.
Eating meat is okay. However, the treatment of cattle, etc. must be humane. Cows, pigs and chickens should be given a good life while they inhabit Earth. Of course this would raise the price of meat maybe ten fold but it would reflect the real cost and value of animals. It would cut down on consumption which would also benefit us and our health. Today, the animals are enslaved and live miserable lives where they border on life and death; anti-biotics being their sustinence until they get to the slaughterhouse.
It is wrong to eat meat, then, today because doing so makes one complicit in cruelty.

you just don't get it do you?
instead of mcdonalds there would be mcveggies..instead of animal protein there would be an abundance of plant protein..we would adjust to it if we had to but since it's so easy to just kill something and since it's all been set up that way we go along with it..it isn't necessary is the point. it's very barbaric!Kazrith
