Illigal immigrants

  • We are all immigrants

Americans have no right to seperate families and throw people back into other countries just because they arent exactly legal. By letting them stay here for so long in the first place they have pretty much let their gaurd down and became at home here. Isn't almost every American an immigrant? "White" people are were immigrants. They stole this land from the Native Americans who are really the only Non-immigrants in this country. The whole economy is going to suffer from this great loss and besides most of the jobs they fill are ones no one else wants to do..

the point of illegal immigration, in part is not just solely to escape fees. if you've always been an american citizen then you have no idea what applying for an american citizenship is like. im canadian and have lived in america for 5 years on a student visa. before coming to the country i applied for citizenship and was denied. the reason being the slightest speck of something in your record or someone in your family will get you denied. applying alone is a task in itself. its way too difficult and way too long. by the time someone does get granted citizenship, it could be completely useless. this is proven by the recent strike enforced by illegal immigrants.

while being smuggled into the country illegally is a punisheable offense, you have to wonder why they have to sneak in when we think citizenship is so easy to obtain. if it were made easier perhaps it would cut down illegal immigration. it would make sense. its important to monitor who comes into the country and is one thing to do so, but its entirely a different matter when people are coming to the country fully willing to work and pay taxes and do all the things that a normal american citizen would do and not be granted that privelage because the processes of obtaining citizenship are at extreme difficulty levels.

i agree, the issue isnt about race, religion, or creed. its about having people obey a standard. its about putting a stop to something that is considered a big threat. but like Weydon and NoUseForAName said, america is in a war where people are dying and being sent to fight after its supposedly been claimed as a win. perhaps teh country should stop picking apart the smaller issues and go for what's really crippling. and how about these gas prices? there's been talk of some possible solution by creating a hydrogen based fuel yet the government would rather stop people from having a decent life than do something about inflation or their own people dying in a "won" war. biogger things eh.

however i fail to see the relevance between americans basically being immigrants. yes most americans did come to this country from another... but how long ago was that? while they have "roots" and their originality may be in another ocuntry, generations have passed. most americans dont know anything about their heritage. you cant base accepting illegal immigration on the fact that americans came here from another country. thats like bringing up slavery and saying anyone who is white must pay thousands of dollars as sufferage because they're white and slave owners in america were mostly white. what would you expect? every american with some European in them to pack up and go back to Europe? it wouldnt happen even if that statement was made into a law - americans are still american citizens. and thats the point - they are already established paying citizens. part of the country that is in exsistence.

overrall i say: if you want to be a part of the country go through the processes, but the processes should be made reasonable so that citizenship is obtainable. if you arent accepted, well there are visas.
