Existence of God

The concept of God does not make any sense. How can God exist if nobody has experienced it? What precedes God or supercedes it?

  • Relativity

The Theory of Relativity works very well for physics (only problem at the center of a black hole), but it doesn't work for God. Nothing supercedes or preceds God, by definition that is impossible. This seems to contradict the law of cause and effect, but God supercedes that law, He made it, so it doesn't apply to Him.

  • Science proves GOD's existance

I agree something had to trigger life but there are still things here that science can't understand. They try to but will they ever? Maybe someday. But i mean for now science doesn't explain everything.

    Example A:

Everyone is fermilar with the creation of earth and the universe correct? God created something out of nothing in an incredibly short time (7 days) Which science SAYS is impossible. And yet has anyone here heard of the BIG BANG THEROY? There are many eqations and such added about particals and pressure building in space but it says about the same thing happened. Something was created out of nothing in a very short time.

See what i mean? Science says there's no god and yet it proves it. Here's another one.

Evolution vs. Creation God created man in the likeness of him. Animals came to the world. But who ever said man (like animals) really evolved? God doesn't play dice with earth people! This was not a slim chance that earth came to be! Man could have evolved in small ways, like maybe larger or shorter or maybe more resistance to pain or stronger but there is no proof that there really is a huge change. There is no link from animal to human. Ever heard of the missing link? It hasn't been found. No where does it say that animal's could evolve and human's couldn't (at least not as much).

Look all i'm saying here is there's no reason church/God and science should be at battle when they both really lift each other up and prove each other again and again. Sounds silly to me.

  • Doubt
I've never been a fan of religion. I'm not a religious person, and don't believe in God. I dropped out of Church because of my doubts in it.
My Doubts? Why is there a man in the sky watching us? Can something as vast as this Earth, this universe, even, truely be created within 7 days just by thiking or wanting it to be there.
    I've trid that once.
    And it doesn't work.
    I can't say i don't believe in a creator.
I'm not saying something as a religious figure or being
but a force or a presence of something greater that our human minds are capable of comprehending.

And I still don't understand how a woman can become pregnated while known as a Virgin.
Maybe one of those religious stories that's trying to teach us humans domesticated values?

Being as the narrow-minded and logical person I am, I'd have to say
    there is no God.

    A creator, a maker, even.
But I doubt the presence of a God.

  • Forget the Science Crap

I don't know and you don't know either.

The point is, religion is the number one subject used to justify murder. How can something like that be backed by a loving, personal God? If you ask me, if mankind ever had a fatal flaw, religion was is.

  • Admit it

When humans first began to live on Earth, they were without knowledge. Things were wild, out of control, there needed to be a system of organizaztion, laws, a guide to living life. Hence, religion. In a way, religion was an ingeneous device for maintaining control over the lands. Admit it, everything in the world relies on another. Elements, particles, atoms, that's what makes the universe. Planets aren't formed in seven days, and you know it! What happened to comon sense?

  • Natural vs. Supernatural

The laws of physics apply to the universe, to the natural world. They cannot by any means describe anything beyond the universe (nature). God, as a supernatural being, exists beyond the confines of nature.

I would also like to say something to the people who assume that since Einstein didn't believe in God, the Theory of Relativity can have nothing to do with God. My brief comment to them would be "IDIOTS!"

The theory of relativity describes the universe, and is independent of it's discoverer. Einstein didn't like some of the ideas the theory implied, so he introduced an irrational and unnecesssary element to the theory, the cosmological constant, a component which we today know to be untrue. The facts of the universe do not depend on us.

Secondly, the greatest intellectual tragedy of our time is the rift that exists between philosopher and scientist. The two are more intimately tied than most people would guess. Science now claims to be the final answer to all questions. But how can it possibly explains what exists outside our universe? Science is the study of the natural realm, the mechanics of our universe. It cannot, by it's own definition, preclude or proove the existence of God. It can however, offer insight into his characteristics (assuming His existence). The universe is ordered, so God must favor order. This one example of the many ties between science and philosophy (by philosophy, I'm referring to anything regarding the supernatural or anything dictating a preferred or right state of living). Science is the study of the natural, philosophy the supernatural. Neither can function without the other, and yet they try so hard to do just that. People ignore the philosophical implications of scientific discoveries. They ignore the fact that the more we learn, the more the existence of SOMETHING beyond our universe becomes neccessary.

  • listen
the whole "god" argument needs to end. christians will always argue in defence of their almighty savior, and us , the smart ones will always defend our scientific, or natural views. but the thing about it is, we all know deep down that god does NOT exist. the only reason christians choose to worship such a hoax is because of a promised eternity of well-being. if christians ever found out that the hope of heaven and the fear of hell was just a story created to teach morals, well, id have to say a lot of people would be out a religion. lean close and listen. repeat it if you choose, religion is a lie. every religion its ignorant and just down right annoying. quit trying to find an easy way out of everything. you all have a lot to learn about life. youve wasted most of it worrying about what an invisible man in the sky thinks, so devote an hour to really think about what youre saying then come back and spread the wisdom.

  • Proving God's Existence Apart From Empircal Evidence
"How can God exist if nobody has experienced it?"

The insinuation that this shows the nonexistence of a god is flawed. The underlying premise is that experience is necessary in order to possess true knowledge. This is, however, not the case. If I say to you "All bachelors are unmarried males," you would be foolish to disagree. The idea of 'unmarried male' is carried in the very definition of the word 'bachelor'. This is knowledge that has been gained apart from experience. It is my opinion that the knowledge of God is the same. The very idea of God consists of everything it is better to be than not to be (the greatest possible being). With that being said, we can view necessary existence as being within the personification of god. In other words, the very word 'god' possesses necessary existence (impossible not to exist) within its definition. Therefore, it would seem logical to conclude that god exists.

  • Point on Reference

Theory of Relativity speaks about everything in the universe being relative to one another. Hence we know that we exist because of the relativity factors around us.

But one query seems to trouble me. If we take Humans as a Single point of contact, then what is the point of reference that we can look to, in order to prove our existence? Today if Person A is sitting accross Person B, Person A realises that because Person B is the point of reference for person A.

Hence if there is no Human race out there, the only logical answer would mean that Humans do no exist hence we don't exist hence GOD cannot exist.
