For quite a while now, people have ranted that the church and religion condemn homosexuality. They speak of we members of the church as though we're a bunch of evil, tunnel vision, narrow minded, hypocrites. I am beginning to agree with them, but for very different reasons. For years, the church stood beside the Bible and all that it said. Wrongs were committed by the congregation and clergy alike, but were always considered wrongs and needs for repentance. But now, the church is beginning to open up and allow the things that the Bible clearly stands against. People who call themselves 'Christians' are saying that the part of the Bible that says they're going to heaven is true and the part about them not being allowed to have sex before marriage or be gay is false. It is at that point that I think that religion has become a hypocritical part of society. You might say, its not agreeing with the condemnation of homosexuality that makes the church hypocritical. It is the denial of it.

People have said that we condemn homosexuals and the like, but I'm just wondering where they get that from. Many if not most churches are much more liberal than people give them credit for. But people still feel persecuted by the church. Just because some one says being gay is wrong doesn't count as a condemnation. For me, it is merely an agreement with a condemnation made by the God I claim to believe in. I'm just wondering if the people who say that the church is narrow minded in terms of morality are narrow minded in terms of the church. In fact, that is exactly what I think. Your thoughts?

Read the bible lately?Voted for by PheonixTearz.
Because Christians and Catholics alike are man powered religions the outcome is the same. They begins to dictate in mass what is and what is not "socially" acceptable, not biblically acceptable. Before the church should judge they should read their handbook.
Or listen to the specualtions of the bible being just that, a handbook. A good source of morals and how good standing citizens should act.
When was the last time you saw someone turn into a pillar of salt?
My point exactly.

you think this is bad you should have seen the unedited verision
let us say that your reading of the bible is correct ,it is not but for the sake of this discussion let's say it is. that i agree would make it your duty to tell me i'm going to hell once. then it would be for me to make a dicision one way or the other. why then do i have to listen to the same blather from a groop of fundementlists who can't even dicide what the propper way to be baptised is. and i have to listen to this daily not just once. i also have to listen to it from so called leaders who some of them have had problems with that part of the body ( jimmy swagart, jim baker, and just so you don't think i'm dwelling on the past the whole freeking boston-new york and california diosies) hay i wouldn't want to be judgmental or anything but wouldn't it be a good idea for you to get the freeking forest out of your eye before you worry about the speck in mine.Weydon

tv ad
There's been an ad on tv lately for a certain church. (I can't remember what it is). It shows a congregation. Within that congregation there is a homeless who gets thrown out of church w. an 'eject' button. Then two black people get thrown out. Then a single mother. Finally, a gay couple. The screen goes blank and these words appear: "God judges people. We do not. All are welcome here." As someone who grew up in a very judgemental church- I applaud that commercial every time I see it.bob2314
