Christians (and the such) should love satan

Two friends of mine pointed out that in the bible, it says that people should love and pray for their enemies. Isn't satan an enemy?

  • ...

The objective of Christ's love is to hate the sin, not the sinner. Therefore, we should still love Satan with the love of Jesus, but hate the sins he has committed against the Lord. Please remember that Jesus died for our sins, and forgives our trespasses. ~Love them like Jesus, carry them to Him. His yolk is easy, His burden is light.~ ---Casting Crowns

  • As A Christian; Yes, I could do that.

    Here is my Prayer:

-----Father in Heaven, I pray that Satan(his new name), will see the error in his ways and return to his master and first love. I pray that Satan will give up his vendetta to hurt Gods children, in his attempt to hurt You Father. I pray this in Jesus' name. -----

We all should love the Arch Angel that was named Lucifer, but we should hate what the new Satan stands for and what he does to God and His children(us).

  • Funny

Christians have to love Satan. Without him, there is no basis for the religion.

  • Reasons

I disagree, we should love the sinner, not because the sin, but because he/she is creation, as well as any other person, either good or bad, and as well as any other creature or lifeform. Remember that Satan is anything but ignorant, because its prowess relies on its vast knowledge. We should also remember that sin is the absence of god in someone's soul, therefore we should pity the sinner, not Satan. And yes, Aidenn, it's more than just the common sinner. Does anyone knows, or at least hypothesize why if we can be forgiven of our sins, why angels cannot? because unlike us, they didn't had anyone who tempted them, they chose and embraced sin 100% on their own will. Humans, on the other hand, are frequently harassed by demons and by our own animal instincts... Whatever the reasons, we should not "hate" anyone, human or inhuman in nature, because hatred is absence of love, respect or even acceptance....

  • It's just not very useful

God already knows and has written down what Satan's destiny is. It's set in stone.

  • I don't really have an opinion on this

I just want to see your views on this. I, being an atheist, just find it kind of funny.

  • About that...

As someone else pointed out, we are to love our enemies, and that we should hate the sin and not the sinner.

However, Satan is the embodiment of sin. He is the Great Deceiver and the Prince of Darkness. It is because of this, that even God hates Satan (as stated in the Bible).

Therefore, because God hates Satan and because Satan is the embodiment of evil, we should hate him and, technically, only him.

  • We are loving...

Loving our enemies is praying for them, yes.

But don't forget that Satan was the one who was kicked out of heaven. HE was KICKED out of heaven! Could you believe how angry he is? I think he is the acception. It says in the word, "You have authority to tread on serpents and scorpions." He is a serpent, we can conquer evil. People are souls who can return through Jesus... I don't think that Satan is allowed that chance to go through the son because Jesus died for all humanity, not the angels. Angels are envious of us, they would come down to touch the face of mankind, we're beautiful to them. Remember, Jesus died for us.

I think I confused you, ask any questions you might have..

  • Love

Acutally, while the bible says that is also says hate the sin, but love the sinner. He's more that just your common, sinner remember that. He's not a mortal enemy either...so we shouldn't love him at all.Rather we should pity his ignorance.

  • Pray for Satan

Why? Prayer is our tool for communication with God. What exactly are you wanting to tell God about Satan that he does not already know?...Not being cute, just curious as to why you wish to include Satan? What do you hope to gain?

Where there's light, there's darkness and vice versa
I think that if there's something negative in our lives, then the good has more value to it. if you lived in a perfect world with a perfect god and happiness for eternity-i think you'd get bored. you'd probably still be happy...but bored. but whatever. im just rambling.

i see satan as a symbol of God's punishment. u sin and u go to satan. personally, i don't beleive in satan because to me it seems like that's just an excuse to do the right things. why can't we just do the right things because we feel that it's right, not because we're scared to burn in hell?

  • Do you believe...
Everything you are told to? Luckily for me I can choose. No religion for me thanks (prefer practical philosophy and humanist values). When you get rid of all the mythologies and logical contradictions, the long tight list of archaic rules made up more than 500 years ago when they believed the universe rotated around the earth, the gods and goddesses, the titans and demigods, whatevers and so on let me know. I prefer logic and science. At least I can base my values on things for which there is evidence. IMO praying never works. In fact they say that a sick person is more likely to die, statistically (recent Wall S. Journal article) if he or she knows he or she is being prayed for. So if I get sick or need help, please don't pray for me, and by the way, Satan is as imaginary as God is. Yes all the prophets were all hallucinating and ego tripping on themselves or something. But I do believe that we need to stop hating each other, whether enemies or friends. Then we could spend the trillions of dollars and all the soldiers lives on making things better for each other. That will be the day! Who will ever think of that?

  • God is the imaginary friend
God is the imaginary friend, Satan is the imaginary enemy. Having imaginary 'people' past a certain age is quite worrying...
