    "We can only be hurt by those who we love." No, the only reason we can be hurt by those who we love is BECAUSE of the goodness that came about in our relationship with them. They made us feel good and we cherished them, and then they did something to hurt our feelings which can only hurt more coming from someone who we trusted and experiences so much good with. Additionally, I don't think it's too hard for people you don't love to hurt you. "We can only hurt those who loves us as well" We can. That's not the only thing we can do. "Before those who do not love you, your tears are in vain." I don't follow. Why is that?

    If you do not care of one and do not mind what he or she is doing, he or she cannot hurt you at all unless hurting you physically.

      I disagree. There are a number of circumstances where someone you hardly know can use personal info against you, or you're even more fragile just make fun of your appearance and end up hurting your feelings. Or if you kind of like someone but don't love them and they turn you down for a date, you'd be a little hurt.

    Depends on your definition of love, i suppose. I could say 'I love everyone' and mean it in the sense of having respect and consideration for all. It doesn't mean I like everyone. So, everyone has the power to hurt me - emotionally, physically, spiritually. I just hope that i am strong enough to cope with that....

    well...

    I would say some people are not influenced by others emotionally, including the examples Weydon gave above. I won't use the word "indifferent" as it sounds a little bit negative. maybe it depends on the personalities of different ppl.

    those that hurt you are only those that you allow to hurt you. they could make fun of you or whatnot but in the end it is up to what you ract... so if you do not react in a painful manner than they have not hurt you. you are your reactions to what others do, or what happens.

    Funny, would love to hear you quote that when someone stabbed you in the face. I realise what you are trying to get at, but emotional pain is no different. I kill your kids, I'm pretty convinced it will hurt you, no matter your attempts to try and console yourself.
