I think the real issue that needs to be dealt with is society's refusal to be accepting of diversity. If anyone is different, or has different ideas there will be someone who is against them. Racism, sexism, ageism, the list goes on. Think about it...even the abortion thing discussed by Nosferatu. Some people are for it and some people are against it. There's good and bad to it but no one can see both sides of the story. No one can just let the would be mothers make their own decisions based on their own beliefs.

The abortion debate( and I use that term loosly) rages on. One side firmly entrenched against the other for ever and ever. Why do you suppose that is? What is the real issue behind the battle?
First, let me state at the outset what my opinion of the matter is. I love children. I see a child and I see possibilities.Having said that I also support a woman's right to choose.
It seems to me that the real debate should not be whether abortion is 'right' or 'wrong' but rather when does an embryo become a life?
What criteria would you suggest be used when attempting to decide when a true 'human' life is created? Should it be based on Science or should we allow the predominantly Christan moral system be applied?
It is here at this junction (Science/Moral) where the problem will always come to a bottle neck, and it is here where I think the most productive debate can happen.
I have my ideas, but on this issue, and this issue alone, I am interested in your opinion.
Should societal laws regarding when life begins be based on Science? Or should they be based on a Moral code?

and so......................
In your opinion........ Should societal laws regarding when life begins be based on Science? Or should they be based on a Moral code? It is not society's refusal to accept diversity that is the problem. The scociety I live in is very diverse. There are many different cultures and beliefs all living in relative peace within our borders. The problem comes with those who believe their code of morals should be the one that governs all. Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
