Why does God let evil happen?

Why do bad things happen to people. Why are people so terrible?

  • Free will

People chose to be bad and God chose to give them that choice. Adam sinned and now we all get to reap the benefits of that sin.

  • Why does god let evil happen?

I think god lets evil happen because he has moved on... I believe it is arrogant to say that god only cares about earth. It is like a kid and a new toy... he plays with it for a while but then will move on to do bigger and better things. As for "Free Will" and Adam and Eve... I dont believe in worshiping a book that cant be proven. If any other book cant be proven without a doubt it is considered fiction. All except the Bible. Man isnt perfect so lets stop the arrogance and accept it.

  • Good Will Come

I believe that God lets bad things happen to us to bring us closer to him. I recently went through a breakup, at first it was hard but now I feel closer to God and realize all the things he has done for me. I also believe that God shows us patience through our trials.

  • The Best Answer To Your Question

Believe me, I’ve read the above and this answer is what you are looking for. First, let me say I have been troubled lately about my own perceptions of God but this is quite irrelevant. I will, however, address question at hand. A wise man once said “God is not found in the disaster, but is the peace that follows”. It is kind of like what happened to the U.S. after September 11th. The nation was drawn together in patriotism. That is where God is. If He/She is.

  • Why indeed

God has a great master plan for all mankind. We, if we choose, will become the children of God. We will be God as God is God. But, He cannot create perfect character (which He is) by fiat. It was necessary that man be created with free will. We must choose the right that God has put before us. Big problem though. In Revlations 12 we are told that Satan has deceived the whole world. In man there is a human nature that Satan broadcasts to and the bible also says that man's nature is naturally hostile towards God. Most people believe that they are basically good, God says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Ultimately, as in the times of Noah, every one did what they thought was right in their own minds and God saw that as evil continually. Jesus said that in the last days the same conditions would exist. So the answer to your question is that by and large people don't want to know God and want to do what they want in their own self interests. Remember, this is Satan's world, but only until jesus returns. Very, very soon now.

  • We will not be equal to God

*Mudgod* All Of what you say makes perfect sense from a Bible standpoint, except that *We will be God as God is God* portion. Wherever did you come up with that view, MG?
