No evil, no God?

  • God is God

God is God, regardless of anything else, totally complete in Himself. You don't need darkness to prove that light exists, even if all you could see was light, you wouldn't doubt that it existed, in fact you would only believe it all the more.

  • You zealot cockheads....

Good and evil are relative and subjective terms, what is good to one, what is just, may be terror or vain action in the eyes of another.

Good and evil are concepts designed by man himself, it seems nobody here can even think outside the realms of just simply,"Good or Bad."

There is too much to say about this, not enough time, and I dont feel like typing it all, that is all.

I am still curious why so many people feel religion is necessary to believe in a God. All that a religion consists of is man-made rules that people believed God would want them to follow. If God does exist, I don't believe it would send us down something as superficial as a rulebook. Good and evil are a human creation. It is WRONG to think of things that way. Nothing is completely good or completely evil. Everything in the world exists in a phase between the two. You can find the most horrible man in history and I am sure you can find some good in him. You can also find the greatest man in history and I am sure he has done some bad deeds. People also tried to describe evil in ideas and objects. This is also wrong thinking. When someone calls an ideology, say communism for example, "evil", they condemn everyone who is part of it. Same with objects. By calling an object "evil" you also condemn everyone who uses that object. Nothing on this planet should be labeled "evil." Instead, they should be understood. Most everything happens due to some cause that leads to an effect. Only in understanding the cause and not labeling the effect "evil," can we truly understand the world. People have been taking the short route for far too long. A healthy skepticism is what the world needs now more than anything else. So, can God exist without Evil? Of course, because there is no such thing as good or evil.

  • no religion

can you just jump out of the influence of religion and think about why God is God in a philosophical sense? Besides mere beliefs, we can discuss why God is God.

  • Yes! Of course!

God is god only evil exists. If no evil in the world, God's image will nott be so positive.

  • comment about evil...

    J. Vernon McGee once explained that in the Bible evil means some terrible thing that happens...such as a landslide on a village, falling into a tiger trap with a tiger in it, losing the keys to your locked car at the summit of Pikes Peak in a rainstorm without a raincoat late one afternoon.

Wickedness is what people often mean by evil. Wickedness is what people do intentionally to harm others. So one may fairly say that wickedness and evil each do exist from time to time.
The misunderstanding is often about the meaning of words, what they refer to and how they are used. One might ask does a platonic form of evil exist for-itself such that evil has an existence apart from an specific instance where a human observer would say that evil had happened (such a the WTC Collapses when evil and wickedness occurred together)?
To answer that question one might refer to the neo-platonist philosopher Plotinus for a reply; Plotinus believed that emmenations from The One through two steps led through a realm of forms to the material cosmos. Evil was brokenness or incomplete forms in the material world that actualize.
Some thought is particularly 'wrong' perhaps, or evil in that it doesn't work well, and abortion are evil because of the destruction of the form and the circumstances that lead to it, drukenness is a cause of evil, certain neurological conditions would be evil, one-legged ducks with mal-formed beaks because of pcb's would be a result of evil, and there forms would be incorrect. Correct forms that last temporally tend to be good, and broken forms tend to be evil, even iif there isn't a moral judgement about the victim of the busted form, but of the form for-itself.

  • Point of Views

Evil is a point of view. A landslide could be a good thing to wipe out a invasive species of plant, forest fires often bring along new and fresher forests after them with the ash as fertilizer, and wars are often fought in the name of a God. So, God can be good or evil and one would never know the difference, for good and evil are one in the same, so neither exist.

  • You haven't defined anything?

First off we can assume good and evil stand on their own and are not relative. By this I mean true good and true evil. Alright assumption made. Now second which God are you refering to? There are too many to say God. Please explain. For now I'll assume you mean the Christian God. The bible says that God is all good, and God is all powerful, and is a thinking being. With that assumption the logical leap would be there is no evil in the world, right? But it doesn't work that way. Why then does an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good God allow evil to exist? If you say it's because satan exists why did the angel fall? If you say free-will why create an evil choice to begin with? Why not simply give creation a choice between two goods? If you say it's the bigger picture...then you're avoiding the question. Alright so logically this God cannot exits unless we re-evaluate the terms given to him. What is good and evil? What type of good does God possess and is God all-good and all-powerful. Until those terms are evaluated we have no discussion. I could give my views further, but the typing is getting tedious. So please either define the terms, or stop the arguing over nothing.
