Twisting truth to fit50% Voted for by Makessenseright, frndofyaweh, I try.
There are some, who will twist the Word Of God, to fit their own needs and thoughts. A sad thing it is. The Bible itself, is NOT propaganda. It is a Spiritual message and must be read with your spirit self.

Easily MisunderstoodVoted for by Energizer Bunny.
I agree with Makessenseright & frndofyaweh completely but I'd like to add to it a little. First let us grasp why it is seen by some as propaganda. Given the essential part the Word plays in our spiritual growth, it's unfortunate today that the Bible has been reduced to a menu to be studied by some rather than a nourishing meal to be enjoyed.
When learning the Scriptures becomes merely an academic exercise, we can actually increase in biblical knowledge while regressing in spiritual understanding. Jesus told the people of His day that while they were diligent to search the Scriptures, their study didn't do them any good because it did not lead them to believe in Him. It's purpose is not just to give us information for our heads, but food for the new nature to feed upon so that spiritual growth can be maximized. Today, too many Christians are spiritually undernourished because they are feeding on anything and everything except the Word of God. It's like a baby's pacifier, it will trick the baby and keep him quiet for a while but eventually hunger pains will cause him to desire real substance and not just a substitute. Today, too many Christians are substituting the Word of God for worldly pacifiers. No baby ever grew one inch on sucking a pacifier and no Christian will grow spiritually away from the Word of God and the influence of the Holy Spirt.
Many people see the Bible as propaganda because they see the Bible as just about anything except what it really is, the word of God. If you use the Word of God for any purpose except for what it's true purpose is then it becomes possible to twist and shape it's content to adhere to basically any principle you wish to mold it into, and most often than not, some Christians as well as non-Christians, are quickly forming propaganda out of scripture instead of seeking the Will of God for their lives. To me this is the saddest aspect of this whole debate. For truly the Bible is not a book of rules and regulations for those who honestly seek to understand. It is what it is and no amount of discussions will ever change that very basic fact. It is a love letter from God to each of us. True, it is "FAR" more than that, but if I had to narrow it down into it's basic form then a love letter best describes it. God tells of His love for us, then He shows His love for us, then He makes the security of your eternal future possible by faith for those who receive. To me that is love.....agape love!

The Bible is just a book....Voted for by Alpha Omega.
Man wrote the bible and even though we think we are perfect IT ISNT REAL. Religion... Man's futile attempt to understand its meaningless existence. Even if there was a god he would be bound by rules.... If god created the universe is was created to follow the rules of physics and natural selection. It's like a kid and a toy... he'll play for it for a little while then go off to bigger and better things. And the last thing that annoys me about religion, is that all western religions think that god is a man and that we are made in his reflection... HOW FREAKING ARROGANT.... If their is an all powerful diety he would be incomprehendable to humans... we're not perfect so lets just get over our selves...

What the Bible Is
The bible is exactly what a collection of English Literature is. A collection of thoughts and historical considerations. Some of them are ispired and full of important truths about life and the human condition. Others espouse a certian plitical or theological agenda. Still others are attempts at poetry, some successful and some not so successful. Like any collection of literature it is up to the reader to take what is valuable to him or her and leave the rest. I personally have found much in the bible worth keeping for its value. But then I have also found much in classical Greek literarture as well. There is one passage of the bible that has been mistranslated. It is perhaps the most important one with respect to the value of the documents that make up the bible. 100 English translations have it wrong only an handful have it right. Here is the verse tanslated correctly. BBE 2 Timothy 3:16 Every holy Writing which comes from God is of profit for teaching, for training, for guiding, for education in righteousness: Not every writing is Holy nor does every biblical passage come from God. :) Rick RichmondPlease register or login to comment!
