Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and a utopian future

If you havn't read "brave new world" by Aldous huxley i surgest you don't get involved in this discusion. Ther are free copies avalibe on the net, but it is a fairly long read.

Do you think such a Society as the "civilised" in Aldous' book can exist? or will the human racebe forever trappd into the ways of the "savages"?

  • I'm for utopia

Personaly i Would prefer Aldous' "civilised" Society. but to create such a socitiy we as a race would first have to shake of our supistitions, all this religous dogma and also human rights, well some of them any way.

  • Nah

I don't like the society he puts forth. The people in his book are completely missing their live. What would really have to happen to make it work is to have human life be devalued to the point that it only matters as a function of society. Only in that way can you justify keeping everyone, or nearly everyone ignorant of whats really going on.

  • LOL

I think the point of the book was for the opposite reaction...But to be honest I'm with you. Aside from the genetically engineered caste system and mistreatments, censorhsip and absence of family (and all that goes with it, so I guess that also means getting rid of the way kids are raised through propaganda), there's few things I can think of that were horrible.
