The thing that makes a positive is its comparison to a negative.
While what we might call a positve might exist, we would not view it as “positive” if there was no negative.

Positive and negative are part of our dualistic view of the world. We see things and judge whether they are good or bad. This judgement is different for every person: what is bad for one person is good for another. Positive and negative have no meaning other than that which we give them. In the end there is only the unity of existence, which humans judge according to their own expectations and desires.

It is really a matter...............10% Voted for by Nosferatu, Sir Dakkon, MadisonRae.

The pursuit of balance is truly a worthy goal, and one that deserves further consideration by all.

there is no possible way for something to just be positive without a negative. think of your friends who should be positive or have positive attributes but they have those annoying little quirks, and everything has those annoying little quirks such as them. to have something that only has positive and no negative has no balance and just doesn’t make any sense…everything has a negative and a positive.

everything has an opposite. dark, light. hot, cold. matter, antimatter. so positive would have an opposite, negitive. like a battery. but then address the unknown opposite. the opposite of nothing. (another poem i wrote lolz) i wonder how if there is nothing, can there be an opposite to it.

Yes. Neutrality and patienceVoted for by CLoUdY.
Existance is purely positive, we created the negative. All energies working in flow that is invisible, purposeful and unrelenting. It speaks to us through our souls but we don’t listen. We power forward in a search constructed mainly of dominance and posessions, hoping to find perfection when we’re actually destroying it

Existence and NonexistenceVoted for by nihilismisdead.
Yes, a thing can exist without contraries. Take the existence itself. There cannot be such a thing as “nonbeing” or “nonexistence.” For how could nothing exist beyond our coloquial expressions?

To be perfectly honest, I have not given it much thought, but I must say you are poised a very thought provoking question.

No such thing as negative or positiveVoted for by -TheLoneWolf-.
There is no such thing as positive and negative unless you are talking math. As long as you are talking every day life no such ting. Simple examle: Rain. Some people will look on it and be happy, others will cry, some will simply LET IT BE. No such thing as negative or positive, like the pictures that children like to color in, only outlines to be filled with the colors of one's mind.

huh?
—”You are talking about ‘positive’ like it is an objective concept but anything that is ‘positive’ is ONLY ‘positive’ BECAUSE we percieve it as ‘positive’.”— -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I’m talking about the existance of the concepts of positive and negative and their relation to each other. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The thinking of something as positive or negative is subjective, but if someone does concider something positive, then the fact that they did is very objective. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you wanted to go a step further, you could say that, within the context of that individual’s own mind, and for the purposes of explaining the relationship between positive and negative, that positive or negative thought could be concidered objective… but there wouldn’t really be much use in that.July 8, 2005
