Is it true that guys are insecure and/or intimidated by smart girls?

Why are a lot of guys only interested in the steryotypical dumb blonde as opposed to smart girls?? I'd hate to think that in order to get a guy's attention, a girl would have to act silly and stupid, but in today's society, it seems smart chicks have nothing to offer. Please give your thoughts.

    It all depends on what you're looking for. A lot of guys are looking for nothing too serious and easy fun. These "dumb blondes" make that easier. But that's downplaying it, because many of these girls are looking for the same thing.

    I don't know why you're lumping the two together. I could never be with anyone, casual or serious (ok, maybe casual...) that wasn't silly.

    I'd take an itelligent women over a big breasted one anyday. I actually tire of all the "dumb blondes" that I'm surrounded by everyday. Some subjects just can't be discussed between two guys,too akward. But if the girl doesn't understand anything,what's the point?

  • Intelligence is very attractive

    Some men look for intelligent mates. It is better to relate intellectually, rather than spend your life, bored with the company. On a lighter note; my wife is superb with numbers, dates and mathmatics, I am not and very glad to have her around, for those "special day" moments. The typical male, eh.

    Just a thought - guys want to feel more intelligent and by being with a "dumb blonde" then they can feel smarter. So they feel intimated by smarter girls because they are... smarter then them.

    Personally, though, I like smarter girls.

  • What I've noticed

    I think that reaction by men is more common when the are younger and less secure, especially at high school age. I am a very assertive, intelligent young woman and have been told by a number of people that I am intimidating, particularly to thye guys I know. A lot of guys at this age don't seem to want that in a girl. Not all of them are like this,of course. I've met a number of admirable boys my age, but they are few and far between.

    I want to ask some of the guys on here why boys at that age are like that. Is there a reason or is it just because they'd rather have a cheap lay?

    I think they're cool, for some reason really tall girls DO freak me out. I'm not an insecure person, but somehow that shorter the girl, the more easily I like/get along with her.

    because I don't like games where you try to out-figure the next move on your opponent.

    I've been out with "intelligent" women. Everything to them is to be analyzed and compared to their wharehouse of knowledge before they can answer a simple question.

    There is no spontaneity with "intelligent" people.

    Real intelligence manifests itself as spontaneity, funniness, creativity and awareness.

    Intelligent women have more reasons to avoid sex. I date artists, outcasts and outsiders. They have true intelligence.

    Would an intelligent woman be attracted to an average guy?Perhaps physically for a little while but she would get bored of him and eventally would dump him and seek a more intelligent intellectually stimulating man.That is why average guys avoid intelligent women.They don't want to get their hearts broken.Intelligent women are difficult to keep happy.

    We both took the same IQ test once. offered in an issue of Omni magazine and supposedly rivaled the MENSA test(I have taken that as well).

    I scored 136. My wonderful wife scored 137. We enjoyed doing it.
