There are people who think that money IS worth everything. There are greedy citizens all around the world who think that money can get them anything they want. There are people who care more about money than someone's feelings. If stores have so many expensive gifts, does this basically mean that people think that they can get everything they want with their money? Is the phillosipher who said "money isn't everything" wrong? Do society's only care about money?

I thimk that you can earn many great things without money...but in the end it does cost money. Does society think that everything, even emotions, have to be paid for? Yes everything costs money, love can be paid for. People have to pay others for their weddings.Yes, everything costs money no matter how important emotions are.

Actually better than the old systemsVoted for by UpsideDownFrown.
Capitalism is its own moral system because of its reliance on profit. Most accuse this of greed; some realize that its' much more rational than other systems.
Which would you rather rely on: your own ability to work, or the Bible? Would you rather someone get to do everything they want because of their years of service to society, or because they were born into nobility? Profit systems are far from perfect, but they're at least modestly rational.
Of course, tons of improvements can be made to modern capitalism (which itself is far from its original definition by Adam Smith), but the fact that our current economy is based more or less on reason instead of faith is a big step forward.

Money is pretty darn important. I saw one television program in which they were doing a bunch of studies on happiness. One involved a survey in which people rated how happy they felt in certain circumstances and with their lifestyle. One of the results of that survey showed that a healthy relationship with a spouse that fits well with someone is generally worth about $100,000 per year. So.. while money may not be able to buy everything, having a lot certainly could make someone a lot happier.

I would argue that a certain amount of money is necessary for happiness (ie. it is impossible to achieve satisfaction with little or now money at all). On the other, hand having more and more money does not necessarily involve happiness as there are many factors that money CAN't control. You can't buy love (well...it depends what your definition of love is) nor good health, nor self-respect etc. etc. In my oppinion, people who put money in the first place can never be happy. Buying things creates only a short term satisfaction, an thus they buy more and more expencive things to feed the illusion that they are living a wunderful life. But it's a circle that never ends...June 16, 2006

I beleive that simply having money and using it does not make you happy. In other words, you can't buy happyness. actually you can't buy and emtions, buying somthing might trigger some emtion but this never lasts. Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
