Why do so many feminists support "gay" rights? Many gay men don't think much of us. If you don't believe me, read the article called "Queer Misogyny" at "Center of Gravitas." This gay blogger states:
"Queer men face a serious problem within the community that does not receive much attention or discussion. A pathological current spreads among gay men that has reached epidemic proportions....I am constantly struck by the level of misogyny that comes into play during many informal gatherings of gay men. ... I have been dumbfounded by how easily self-identified gay men fall into misogynist dialogues or jokes. For many gay men, degrading women’s bodies as dysfunctional, inferior, or just plain icky becomes a means through which they attempt to build unity with other gay men. ... More times than I would like to recount, however, I have witnessed exclusively gay male partygoers descend into discussions about their disdain of vaginas and women’s bodies in general. Even the most sexist straight guy would probably blush at the unchecked misogyny in queer-told jokes about vaginal penetration and/or menstruation. If you are a gay man who claims that he has never witnessed this type of discussion within a circle of gay male friends, you are either lying or not paying attention..... Undoubtedly, the women in these men’s lives would be hurt and frightened if they were privy to the negative comments directed at women’s bodies. ... I recognize that simply saying “Stop it” will not be enough to end misogyny within the gay community."
Despite "queer misogyny" the National Organization for Women considers same-sex marriage a "feminist issue."

Did you read the quote?33% Voted for by sofita, Mujtaba H Zaidi.
I wish I could get inside people's heads and understand how disgust at women's awesome bodies, as demonstrated in the article I quote, ever came to be seen as normal, natural, or psychologically healthy. This is profoundly disrespectful to women in general, and more specifically to the mothers that bore these men. What a slap in the face!

Note this does not comport with the harmless, traditional image that the gay rights movement tries to project. If you really want to understand homosexuality, you have to read the gay press. That is, read what they didn't carefully orchestrate for mainstream straight people, but for their own community. Then you will get a sense of the real flavor this movement.

I'm a gay man, and i can honestly say that i have never witnessed a bunch of gays bash women. it simply doesn't make sense! i mean, maybe if you're talking exclusively about *american* gays you might be on the mark, but *canadian* gays certainly don't act like that... I hate americans

I've never heard anyone bag out a woman's body, I fail to see any rationality behind how that is funny or even would be funny, not because it is distasteful or anything, it just seems to well, never happen. The only people who I know to ever do it are our prided aussie womanizers who use it as a form of control and belittlement of women, but it would be more along the lines of comparing them to other women eg "your ___ are saggy", or "look at you you fat lard of an ___", not joking around. Why would straight men belittle something that they are instinctually attracted to? They may talk it down and be dirty, but I don't see why they would try to degrade it.

Also, Sofita, why shouldn't feminists support same-sex couples; there are a whole bunch of lesbians out there (I saw a very attractive pair yesterday!).
I support racial equality, but people of all races have been arseholes to me.
