If it does, do you think that will be a good or bad thing?

I think it will.60% Voted for by Kayden S, Weydon, Demonethes.
If you ask me it could go either way. Kind of neutral actually. I don't like the reliance on technology and identity theft etc. But maybe it is time for money of that sort to take a seat in the past.

The Government is too AfraidVoted for by TheWiseOne.
It may seem logical to transfer to a easier and soon to be safer form of finacial transacation. But governments are afraid to rely souly on something like credit cards or for that matter any type of virtual technology that represents something as powerful as an economy. This is why there is still trains, and truckers who ship things around the world when something airplanes are much more efficient. I think it will sleep more and more virtually as it already has. Nearly all stocks are bought and sold on virtual networks but still the have pits. why. Just in Case.

Coins or CardsVoted for by -xxstitchesxx-.

The statement "will credit cards replace coin and paper currency" is unclear in it's question. What we are refering to is will electronic fund transfers (eftpos) replace coin and paper currency.
The door could swing boths way in this debate, for the ideas behind electronic fund transfers means, easier movement of funds for the individual and also transactions/withdrawls.
However, this does in a sense leave the individual out of contact with their funds. It's in human nature to want to posses physically, for example; land, animals, and of course money. Electronic fund transfers leave the individual out of that loop.
In short, cards will never replace coin or paper currency because humankind still need to feel we have control of our funds.

absolutely
Yes, How many of you hate carrying around cash? It is easier to just have one card. Mugging would be less about money. They even have vending machines that take debit cards. And you know what, that will be our downfall. we rely so much on technology to do everything for us. Idenity theft has never been easier with every bit of your money tied up electronically. If something were to happen to a major computer database do you know how many people would be stricken poor and unable to pay their bills. Honestly that should be our worst fear associated with terrorism. If they wern't so hung up on actually 'killing' americans that would be second priority. Please register or login to comment!
