What about before?
Religious Person would say: Before is God (most societies recognize this)
Proof of God
Thomas Aquinas (1225 – 1274) Argument for design – Everyone has purpose – It didn’t give itself purpose – Something gave it purpose – We’ll name it God
I go to a Catholic school. I am not Catholic, this is what my religion teacher said. What do you guys think?

"It didn't give itself purpose". I think the best way is to find purpose within yourself instead of feeling the need to rely on a God you aren't even sure of.

Big Bang - The Best Scientific Theory So Far14% Voted for by creason, Forgotten Dust, Dienush.
It is scientific fact that the universe is expanding. From this observation we can see that all the matter originated at one point, where the Big Bang occured. I have read several very confusing theories on before the Big Bang, but none made much sense to me.
I believe that religion in general is just explanations for things that we didn't have the capability of understanding. Now that we know better, we have science. I think that everything can be explained by science, and I have no doubt that in the distant future we will have the technology and the understanding to make sense of what would seem illogical to us now. Things that we have limited knowlege of, like black holes and dark matter, may become clear later.
We just have to concede to the fact that we do not know everything, and work from the best theory so far.

You Have to Think9% Voted for by Tweedle Dee, crosscountry07.
The Big Bang is a scientific theory created by paranoid scientists who find it impossibly incorrect for the world to be created out of nothing, there was nothing, just a mind of a being who also created Adam and Eve. The Big Bang is also a very possible truth, but most deny it for the fact of the truth within religon which even I find hard to accomplish sometimes. If you wanted to accept the theory against God then your going to have to go deep and shove every aspect of religon to the back of your brain and glue it there. The big bang explains the eruption of the coexistent universe tied in one aspect, a single explosion. Hint hint the BIG BANG. Protons, Electrons and Neutrons, the aspect of nothing, well at least nothing you can see without a microscope 100*10. No alot bigger, anyway the entire idea has a flaw. Flaw of nature. Nature cannot correct the entire balance of the big bang. Think of it like this, Electrons and Neutrons are equal = negative and positive sides. If there was even a .0000000000000001 particle added to one side and one side only, the entire world would be on chaos. The world could not exist, or it would but it would not be equal just like every other plannet to exist, so you tell me that the world was created by an enormoush explosion and I say, Ok but how are the chances compatible? Of course it is because here I am typing now, but for it all have to work out, there has to be something out there, something wanting us to think of this, something to want an accident or miracle as "The BiG Bang" to occur. Do you not believe in a destiny? Faith or fate? Thats what it all tears down too, what do you believe in and why? The truth is none of us knows, we just believe in the impossible such as God, or the possible = scientific explanation. But science can only go so far, and prophesy's only go farther. It just depends which aspect you look at. ~ Tweedle Dee

Big Bang doesn't make sense...Voted for by UnspokenAmen.
Scientists contradict themselfs when they say that everything was created from nothing. The law of conservation states that matter cannot be created or destroyed...hence, contradicting the Big Band Theory.
And Evolution makes even less sense...but that's a whole different topic.

Why?Voted for by Ashton Sanford.
I may be getting off the subject of this debate, but why do people think Religion and Science are two different things? Science can actually support Religion. Science states that humans evolved from primates. What if it did happen, but it happened because of God's want for it to happen? The Big Bang may have created the planets and stars, but what if the "Big Bang" was an act of God. I apologize if I'm getting off the subject, but I just had to say that.

A Good LaughVoted for by Sankofalokumbe.
I love the big bang theory. It is a really good laugh. If a whole universe can come from nothing, who is there to draw the line between reality and fantasy? Evolutionists are just sci-fi scientists who decided to stop writing books.

Thomas AquinasVoted for by geniex.
I was reading one of the points that Thomas Aquinas made about everything having a cause. I decided to rip his claim to peices. He contridicts himself on countless occasions which evidently led me to beleive in god less than i had in the first place. He says the Unviverse exists..ok believable..but how believable? How do we know the universe exists..we dont know what the universe is..He then states that everything that exists has a cuase, how do we know everything has a cause..and how do we know that anything exists? He contridicts himself in saying that therefore there must have been a first cause, so what was the cause of the first cause..and why is this god? Who is god? There may well have been something very extraordinary that started this earth but why do we name it god?..Thomas Aquinas assumes that there cannot of been a chain of causes going on forever..there may have been. What if there was a whole Universe before ours? We just cannot know. Thomas Aquinas makes rudiculous assumptions that cannot be proved..nothing can really be proved. All that benefited me from his arguement was that even if there was something special that created the earth, even if this was god..how do we know that god has not since then died out, which is why our world has gone out of control. His arguement jumps from one thing to another without proper explanation. How can we say that there is a God just because the Universe exists?

Big Bang Cannot Vs God…Either All or NothingVoted for by TruePh.
If the Big Bang really is the beginning of all matter and energy then God exists. If the Big Bang is just a big bang which changed the universe, and the universe existed forever, then that's a different story and I wont even get into that. But without a God the Big Bang cannot be the beginning of the universe, in other words without something making it happen, something cannot come from nothing, it violates the law of conservation.
"How do we know the universe exists.....how do we know that anything exists"
I dont know about you but I know that I am self aware of my surroundings, which proves that something exists and I am not non-existant

Gods Big BangVoted for by painter-of-words.
Ok maybe this "big bang" thing did happen but it didn't happen because it was a natuarl phanominon or w/e it happend because that's how God wanted it to happen, it happend with a purpus and a meaning not as an accident and pointless. It's like how people think we came to be or how humans came to be. I mean look around you at the tree and everything think about it as the trees reaching their branches to God growing higher and higher just like everything in life growing....so the "big bang" isn't just the "big bang" it's God big bang, and thats only IF that's how he made it happen........(and just for the record i think the big bang theory is nothing but a pipe dream and i hate the way scientists think they have to figure everything out)

Maybe I Need Some Sleep, But....Voted for by Big Open Mind.
I've just learnt from all the hours of staring into space thinking about things like this, to keep an open mind and not to believe any theory completely. I have no idea what the hell this universe is for or why any of us are here and not one person on his planet can tell me the real reason as far as I'm concerened. So I'm just going to wait until the day I am told the truth by the person who created it all, then I won't have wasted so much of my life believing in something that was just a lie. Then again if when we die, we just die, I'll never know the truth but then that would mean there was no truth in the first place, which really wouldn't matter because I'd be dead and it wouldn't bother me. Man I've made my brain hurt with all the shit I've just typed.
