Woman archbishop okay with gays!

Not only was a woman elected leader of the Episcopal church, but she's fairly cool with gay people it seems. Obviously this has no bearing on most Christians--in fact, both bits of news probably further rifts them from Episcopals. But it's uplifting for this liberal organized religion hater :)

  In England we have several senior bishops who are homosexual, and generally the church is not that fussed when it comes to LGBT people. Is it really that bad in the US when it comes to Christianity tolerating sexual preference?

    LOL Yes it is quite horrible. At best we have people who say they're really okay with it--really! It's cool. You can love the same gender. But it's a sin. A dirty, horrible sin. And if you get physical with the person you love, you are an even worse person!! DON'T MARRY THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE!!!! And stop holding hands it's making me sick...

    Wow harsh, even when i was fairly anti-homosexual i still supported gay marriage as it is not my business to tell people what they can and cant do between two consenting adults.

    See, thats what I don't get. There's nothing resembling a logical argument behind people's claims against it. 1. They're corrupting what marriage has been about forever! ...Marriage was about mysogyny, politics, fiancance, arrangement, etc. Every culture morphs marriage overtime. 2. WHAT'S NEXT?! PEDOPHILIA!!! Yeah. Because consenting adults doing something that you don't like to do means it's basically pedophilia. 3. It's just not natural! Neither is marriage itself. 4. It's gross!! So are fat people, but I don't stop them from marrying ;) Really the only closest thing logical against it is "The Bible told me no." Well, that's great for you. At least you admit your reasoning is "I do what old books tell me even though it doesn't have a reason behind it", but that doesn't mean you can make other people stop it.

    Gay issue a big distraction

    When the most important issue on people's minds in the church is gay marriage and the right of homosexuals to be church leaders, you know we are in big trouble. While Rome burns the church fiddles with these relatively unimportant issues. What distresses me most about the so-called "gay" debate is that it is hijacking the far more urgent needs of our own survival as a civilization. OUr kids sit at home at their computers without guidance or direction, and we worry about the right of two men to hold hands in public. For crying out loud, hold hands if you want to. But don't force the world to take up its precious time making your issue the center of attention, It will surely help destroy us. There is a self-absorption and selfishness in the "gay" issue. For all the talk about it, it really IS NOT the key issue of our day. If the world survives at all and history is written about us they will remark how, when the very principles that had permitted us to advance as far as we have, were being torn to shreds, that some of the potentially better people were tearing their hair about this issue while their enemies plotted their demise.

    It is in your opinion that giving your children free license of the internet is a bigger issue than denying gays equal rights. I personally am really not that fussed, I think you find what you seek on the internet- dodgy stuff does not come unless you look for it generally. I also really dont think that most people would believe it to be the most important issue at this time, but many do feel strongly about it

      why is it that the more someone hates something, the more they talk about it? just forget about it and be happy. act like the situation is nothing more than a breeze-a natural occurence or something. maybe then no one would be at war.

        I doubt noone will be at war. There's alot more reasons for that. Plus with out and A-holes on this planet how will we learn what not to be. lol.
