Can we control what we like?

  • Do we have control of the brain?

I don't think we have control over what we like because we can tell someone that we like something but we can not make our mind thing the same way.

  • Not really

But I will say that it's possible to sway yourself somewhat. Give something/someone more of a chance--or less of a chance and then grow towards one emotion gradually. Like cigarettes, coffee, some times of alcohol, dope, red bull, etc. Some things just take time to like even if you hate it the first time.

  • why

i have no doubt that man has the ability to condition himself to enjoy certain things, unnaturally. for what possible reason should we desire to constrain desire? desire is imperfect and should stay that way. were it otherwise, being outside of ourselves would be undesirable. the soul becomes ingrown like a toenail.
