If I’m hearing right America are the only ones not to join, and they are the biggest polluters. i may be wrong here, but discuss it. :)

America does not join things it is in violation of. Case in point the World Court.

They agreed to reduce pollution by a smaller percent over a certain time period. Also, polluting countries can ‘purchase’ points from under-polluting countries to balance things out. America, by the way, is the cleanest developed nation.

Other countries didn’t join as well. Australia is one of them. Also, many developing countries joined, BUT they are allowed to pollute at whatever level they want. So in effect, they are just signing the paper and not really agreeing to do anything, and that’s ok with the other countries.
What this is trying to accomplish is a good goal, but there are serious problems with it. America needs to reduce emissions and pollution, but it will not do so drasticly, and trying to force America to take drastic measures won’t work. At a certain point the economy is damaged to the point that the people of the country would despise the agreement.

Kyoto Accord of whatever its called is not as good as it should be. Perhaps they (meaning the world) should tweak it a bit.

yes but the point is that America refuses to admit even that pollution is causing global harm and needs to have something done about it.
