Is there any scientific reason why woman open their mouths when they put on lip stick?

I'm a teenage girl who has never put on cosmetics, and when I see a women put on lip stick they always have thier mouth open. Why is that?

  • As a woman...

    We open our mouth because we want to cover the whole lip. Because the lip when closed, covers a part of the lip. If you put on a color like black, deep red, etc... you have to worry about whenever you open your mouth people may notices the different color on the lips. Thats really all it is. When you look close in the mirror you can see every little thing. Most people put thier makeup in front of a mirror looking very close up at their face, so they do focus on the little details like that.

    the lipstick thing i can understand, but i don't see why some have to open their mouths when applying mascara.
