The bible was written by mortal man. It is said to be the words of God. So if that's the case then why didn't Jesus, the son of God, write the bible himself? So are the words of the Bible actually real.

Mankind is known for wanting power. So what better way to get power than saying the words they wrote are the words of god? Not only that but the bible is also not complete. So if you if put all these things together it makes me wonder why didn't jesus write the bible in the first place. Or did he and the church didn't like what he write so they eliminated it from history?

His purpose was to save Mankind, not promote scripture.14% Voted for by wisdomsearch, bachelorette, NeferMaatNetjer, Mag the Chodja, piapressure.
Jesus did not come to promote the Bible. He wanted people to start thinking so that Earth could be saved. The people of his time were not thinking well. They were living by the rigid rules of Scripture. Jesus opposed the Pharisees because they lived by the rule book of scripture to the letter, while ignoring the sinful state of their own souls. Unfortuneatly, Christianity has become a lot like that today and Jesus would oppose it. He would be trying to wake the people up to think with wisdom and common sense, not demanding they "accept" Jesus as some kind of god.
Jesus is reported to have said, "Why do you call me good? Only your Father who is Heaven is good."
He is also recorded to have said that he expected his followers to do greater things than he.
He was not setting himself up as "God." It was only the church that did this later on.

Cuts Out Bragging5% Voted for by ForbiddensCure, NeferMaatNetjer.
If Jesus wrote the Bible, it would sound like he was saying "Hey, I am awesome!". Having people other than Jesus or God himself write the Bible shows faith instead of a Bragfest. God chose who he wanted to write the Bible. Those people could have refused. Written this way, it is more authentic because people wrote it-they wouldn't write things that make this other guy sound so good if it wasn't true.

Yes Word of God power is Gods5% Voted for by frndofyaweh, SoS.
You seem to forget; The Bible is a book about Gods power and mans weakness. Why would a man wishing power, write down claims that power is not mans, but for God to have and give it?
In order for our choice to be ours, God cannot write it Himself, nor His Son. God grants vision to those He chooses. The Words and stories in the Bible will justify themselves. Read and see for yourself.

I am in no way religious; but my opinion is this.
If and when Jesus was brought into the world; he was intended to teach people about their God. He was not told to write a Bible; and I don't easily see how he could write about his own crucifixion. The Bible was kept and written by strong believers and followers that were moved by his lessons here on Earth. Who wanted to share what they were taught. Possibly even to avoid getting the direct words twisted when the teachings were handed down from generation to generation. Not that it hasn't already been mangled; the Bible has been translated hundreds of times and exact words; etc. have been lost and replaced.
In my opinion; Jesus really couldn't have written the "big book" himself. It's been added to; and all sorts of other things. That's just that.

Several different viewpoints, more believable.Voted for by Murphys-Enigma.
I would say that he did not write it himself because he wished for many texts to exist, thus many viewpoints.
This way more is said about his life, because it is seen from many angles.

Same reason I didn't eat toast for breakfast.
Who are you to question what I ate since you don't know me or understand me? Well....IF god is who the bible claims, then who are humans to question his choice of authorship because it SEEMS to us to make more sense. Anyways its all pretty hypothetical.

Let the writer writeVoted for by bergman.
Because its not nice to talk about how big and lovely you are and maybe you are not good enought to write it. They did really good, and hey, let me say, besides Keats and Wilde, is the most beautiful book ever made. Dont care if its true or not, just want to believe.

A teacher gives a lesson.Voted for by Joshua Washburn.
And the word became fleash and dwelt amoung us. So why not make that word, words again??? It does'nt make sence. A teacher has a profile that he/she works off of. And then teaches to every one. If I am teaching something I expect you to write it down. So why does'nt the teacher right it down. Makes more sence. The bible is not the word OF GOD> it is the word of God put on paper by man, to make the word of God interpuated through modern mans eyes.

Because.Voted for by Kayden S.
I don't understand why people rely on the bible. It was written by straw-strewn men who believed the world was flat in a time where the wheelbarrow would have been an astonishing example of modern technology. To follow the bible is to disregard two thousand years of knowledge. Written by Jesus or not, that's what i think.

MovieVoted for by TeChNoWC.
Apparently there was a movie about this issue. It is called stigmata, and shows a hidden document owned by a church that was written by Jesus himself. When the priest in the church died, he was so Godly, he was able to possess people.

god didn't write the bibleI have never read the bible before but i thought the bible was writen about jesus by some one who wittness what happened and there fore the bible was writen about but not by jesus. and yes there were changes to the bible from churches and founders. I personaly dont beileave in the bible couse if u think about it if jesuse wrote it , well were would he get the time when he is doing all these things and when he dies and is on the cross the bible still talks about it .... i dont think he could of done it, and if the bible was writen by some guy who wittnessed it then he must have had no life and he would have had to fallow jesusclose enough to here everything jesus was saying.Voted for by C-a-s-m-e-r-o-k-u.

It is Not the "Word of God" ...per seGod used Divine Inspiration to guide and help authors of the Bible write for the good of mankind. The Bible is a love-letter from God to humanity. It tells us what is right and wrong, tells us how to live our lives and what to do in certain situations.Voted for by Crusader318.
If it was EXACT word of God, then the world would not be allowed free-choice, as you exercise by questioning why God did not write it. You would be instantaneously zapped from being. -
if Jesus HAD written the new testamentif jesus HAD written the new Testament, it would have less credibility than it does now. he would have been seen as a false prophet, touting his own docrines. by relying on those who witnessed the events of his life, jesus gave credibility to his message.Voted for by NeferMaatNetjer.

It's A book. The Bible is just a book. Like the ones in the library that someone wrote with their imagination. And then one day some one found it a long time later and was like.. wow this must be true its so real.. But it's a book. a BOOK. The end.Voted for by Hardhittn63.

MaybeBecause He was too busy with the work of His Father in the short time He had? That God wanted to anointed the disciples to do so and let others be included and involved in the edification of the gospel? That He wanted others to testify to Jesus' good works, so that it weren't a mere personal account and to show others were in agreement, and not a self-edified myth?Voted for by TeChNoWC.
He tasked us: 'You will do greater things even than I'
When the Comforter came, this was made manifest.
The Teacher is not His own scribe. -
KHalf the Bible was already written, hundreds of years before Jesus was born. Why would he write the rest of it? First of all, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have known how he was born, or exact details of a time when he was an infant. The New Testament doesn't completely deal with Jesus either. It also deals with politics and current issues, since Jesus' work was very politically influential. Jesus' followers were so captivated by him, that they documented his work in order to share it with other people. I doubt it would have had the same effect if Jesus had written it himself. I doubt he would have even considered it. Writing books on himself would have gone against what he was trying to achieve. He believed he wasn't there to become a great ruler of men, but to spread the word of his Father. He was basically a peace loving hippy. Bragging about himself on paper would have given himself a sort of power-which he didn't want.Voted for by scarlet screams.

amyways sure if u want to say god speaks in silence then go ahead but thats how he speaks but that doesnt meen he cant have thoughts so he wrights his thoughts not his silent "words". now the only question that pops into my head is did god no how to read or right??

Changed the Bible around to potry women as sin. Don't come near me, Weydon, because if we have physical relations of any kind out of wedlock, you're going to Hell with me. Hehe. Over the times, Gospels and information about women of the Bible has been omitted. There isn't even any info in the book about Mary Maggie being a slut, yet she is called one. Shame.

On another level - objectivity and ethics
Would you believe in me if I wrote about myself and said all sorts of amazing things. I doubt it. But, if you said some amazing things about me and this was corroborated by someone else then it would be one of two things - truth or conspiracy. People only indulge in the game of conspiracy if they have something to gain. Christianity has been around for two thousand years - longer than the odd 70 years we spend on earth. Deserves some though don't you think?Mary O

Jesus was probably illiterate
From all indications, Jesus did not know how to read and write. He perhaps could read Aramaic, his native language and a bit of Hebrew since he knew the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible. Since he was poor and worked with his father as a stone mason (not a carpenter), he probably wasn't schooled and gained his knowledge through the oral tradition. Many in his day spoke Hebrew, Latin and Greek as well as Aramaic. What's more, Jesus never intended for there to be a Bible. He was an apocalyptic "holy man" (rabbi, teacher) and healer who thought the he and John the Baptizer were to lay the groundwork for the "Kingdom of God" on Earth. That was the "Good News." He thought the KOG was coming in his lifetime. He thought God would destroy the Jews' oppressors, the Romans, and would set up a just society on Earth with Jews being the ruling class. Unfortunately, both John and Jesus were executed. Paul also preached that the KOG was imminent and that people should prepare for its coming. Unfortunately, Paul was executed. The New Testament was just a collection of letters and writings with many disputed concepts in them. Many of the books were written by unknown authors - the early "church fathers" just attributed them to the names on them. There were many competing schools of Christian thought after Jesus' death, with the Roman Catholics winning the day with the help of Roman Emperor Constantine. The facts are so different from what we have been led to believe by the Catholic and Protestant churches. The Bible is a very human and fallible creation; it is full of contradictions and fallacies; violence, slavery, and discrimination again women bordering on misogyny, and lots of myths passed as truth. However, it is still worthwhile and great reading and has some great moral lessons: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Buddha, Confucius), or Do not do unto others what you would not have them do unto you (a not so subtle difference); and Love thy neighbor as thyself, and much more. It has some great things in it, but God's word it's not. I have read it many times and I highly recommend it, but know it for what it is - not what you've been told (and sold). Please register or login to comment! It's fast and totally free!
