it was wrong, understandable, but wrong28% Voted for by knaveofhearts, omarmohamed.
I saw the game on tv in israel. During the post game commentary, the announcers referred to the headbutt as "The Great Stupidity", which is exactly what it was. What Materazzi said was crass and rude, as well as insulting, and furthermore, what the Foriegn Minister of Italy said was also reprehensible especially coming from the mouth of a well educated government figure. that being said however, Zidane should have kept his emotions in check, and afterwards confronted Materazzi about keeping his mouth shut.

If somebody had said to me that my mother was a dirty terrorist whore and claimed to have sex with her,(when Zidane's mother is already very ill) I would beat the living crap out of him.

He should have taken the high roadVoted for by liberal aura.
If only he would have waited until he lead France to a victory. That would have been revenge enough for the horrid comment Matarazzi (sp?)made about Zidane's family. But no, he had to sink to his level, and bring France down with him.

I can only say that the power of emotions can never be underestimated and honour and reputation can be destroyed within a second.
