Destiny - who controls it?

What is destiny/fate and who controls it?

Can you choose your own future or is it already planned out ahead of time? Are there actual answer to these questions? I like to believe that I have some control over my decisions but at certain times dragged by the wills of a higher being (God) or force that I cannot see but is there all the while. What are some other opinions?

  • Completely Free Will

What is the point of living if we can’t choose our own future? If our destiny is already chosen for us, there is no point of us being here. If we truly want to call ourselves human beings and valuable to life, I think we have to have free will. If we didn’t, we would be no better than puppets being controlled by some other being.

  • Without posting a book, I....

would say this: Bible passages can tell you about this. God creates us with a destiny in mind. It is our choice to follow that destiny or pick another. If we pick another, out of passion for its destination. It then depends on passion given to whom. Self or God. If you have passion and desire to be a teacher and ask God grant it for HIS glory, it WILL be given to you. Thus you have a new destiny with Gods blessing. If you choose it becuase you want it and it is not Gods will, then you may fulfill that destiny also, but it will be at a larger cost than it is worth, in every case. For example: (Hypothetical) If a man desired to be a millioniare through real estate sales, because he wants to live in a mansion and have a hot car and a hot girl, or maybe two. That man may suceed, but that is not his birthright destiny. He will fall hard in all other aspects of life. He will feel a void in himself that never gets filled. He will have hardship in relationships. Unexpected Deaths may plague his family. Sudden Illnesses. Bankruptcy. Scandels. Backstabbers and thieves are fast friends. Example: (true account) A certain youth director at a local church was married to a women, who found comfort with another man. That man also a member of same church. When it all came out, they got a divorce. The youth director gave it all to God because he had to; his ex-wife had changed his destiny by divorce. God gave him a new directors job at another local church making twice the money, a new wife and destiny. The ex-wife married her other man. One year later she died in a car crash. her lover died later, also violently. True story.

No one can honestly and accurately tell the future nor can we change things in the past, what controls how you end up is you’re ways of getting there. Life is present therefore everything happens at one constant rate, whatever happens to you happens, thats your destiny, I duno if we even need “destiny” in our language, we already have “life”.

  • As long as you are aware

As long as you are aware, you can control it. But millions of people aren’t- they don’t control their own destiny unfortunately- except for the parts they are aware of.

  • Whatever happens was going to...

..happen? That is not true, Dauer. we can change our destiny and God will grant it, if it is to glorify Him. I am living proof of a changed destiny, that has been successful. I started as a carpenter with a degree. Even owned my own business and succeeded. I ended up an artist and publisher. I asked God to grant me that destiny. and I would give and use that success to glorify Him. Writing had become a passion for me. A desire that God could still use me for. My career at the newspaper fell in my lap. Easiest job I ever got. four promotions in 9 yrs. and still going strong. Have made many artworks and editorials since then. Either,...God granted me a new destiny or my first choice was wrong, but also successful.

  • Destiny has a bad definition

Destiny or fate is a word to describe the end of ones life and what it has done. Therefore destiny really means the outcome of a very long chain of choices that hasn’t even ended yet. “Nobody can see past a choice they do not understand” – The matrix

  • My Destiny

Hmm..Well I believe there are certain obstacles you set for yourself in a pre existent life that you must over come and you set our a blue print of your life with God. Although it is the one who ultimately decides where, when by who you are born. There are set paths, it depends on which one you decide to go on that sets your destination. So basically I’m saying that destiny is not a huge role in our lives, we can make our own destiny within the framework/blue print we are given.

  • Concept

destiny is a concept of thought.it is what you think or feel will happen. not what is set out for you. destiny, fate, serendipity- are all what you are feeling for your future.

  • Two things.

Two forces control your Destiny: Yourself, and Fate. You control only the minor things that happen in your life (if you wanna do drugs, get married, kids, etc.) but all of the major things that happen to you, the shit you can’t control, Fate controls.

  • not you nor anyone, nor anything

I think that what will happen will happen, simply beacause, though we have choices, if you lived your life again, (without being able to remember your first life) and everything that happened in your first life happened in this one, you would make exactly the same decisions. However, I do not bieleve that anything controlls destiny, it simply is what will happen and there is nothing you or anyone, or anything else can do about it.

  • Everything happens for a reason...

I believe that your destiny controls your fate but you control your destiny, if that makes any sense. I think if you trust your heart to follow your destiny then you will acheive your fate. I think that there are no accidents & everything happens for a reason because of fate. I think that although someone has written out our destiny for us we can change it by the choices we make in life, because no matter what we are given choices, but someone or something helps us make the right ones.

  • Free will, God, destiny, etc

There is an interesting story I read about God and free will. Most of it is relevant to anyone thinking these things and what is not relevant can be substituted with familiar associations.

    http://www.neveikodesh.org/Home/RebZalmantales.htm

I’m not really sure about free will. At the very least we have the illusion of free will and that’s really all I can speak for. Why do we experience free will, whether or not it exists? I’m not really sure. But as far as my sense of this world tells me, I have it and must take responsibility for the choices I make.

What is destiny? Whatever is going to happen will happen. Whatever happens, that is what was going to happen.

  • Your in behind the wheel of life

Man, and for that matter woman control our own destiny. What ever life hands you.You have the free will to deal with it in various ways.My motto is-(The ultimate decistion,to fight or die is mine). I’am the master of my destiny, and the choise remains mine still.-Last line is one of my poems.—

  • Desitny...yours or God's

Destiny is comtrolled by none of these…destiny does not exist…According to the bible, we were created in God’s image, meaning not his appearence but his choice of thought…or free will. I believe that He does not control our actions, but knows what actions we are going to take. But at the same time, there are things that we cannot control, like other people’s decisions, who may interfere with our so-called destiny. If we cannot control our “destiny” and God will not control it…then it left to the random act of the universe.
