If a honest man dies, but doesn't belive in god will he be sent to hell?

Ok,an Honest, caring man dies, but doesn't belive in god,do you think he will be sent to hell JUST because he does't belive in Him?

  • God sends no one to hell

**do you think he will be sent to hell**

You imply God will send him to hell and that is far from correct. God sends no one to hell, for each person is responsible for their own choice based on their decision of what they do with Christ. In that sense, each person chooses where they will spend eternity.

  • A non-believer may be striving harder to know truth than a believer

Some people who say they do not believe in God really mean they do not believe in the commonly accepted version of Christianity. They see inconsistencies and absurdities in Christian teachings. They doubt it, and for good reason. There is a lot in the Bible that does not add up, if you examine it closely.

I heard someone say, and it rings true to me: "Doubting Thomas was nearer to heart of God than many would like to think." I have never thought a truthful mind could rationalize and explain all the inconsistencies you find in scripture. Many have tried, but I also think their intellects have gone outside the realm of reality in the attempt.

I wrote a poem on this that explains my view better than I could if wrote paragraphs, so maybe I will share it here:

    Selling Out Jesus

The Anti-Christ offered to spin Jesus’ acts

To detract from the truth and twist the facts.

He grabbed the Bible writers' pens,

Twisted their minds and put therein

    Half-truths and outright lies,

    Cloaked in complex mythologies

That persisted down through the eons,

    Producing crusades and inquisitions

    Jesus truly wept

Because he was portrayed as inept,

And suffered because he was deified,

    Cast in stone and petrified,

And placed on a false pedestal

    Just to make him inaccessible.

Way up on his throne so high

He’s much too good for you and I.

And all were told to believe

He’d bear our sins and make them leave

‘Cause we’re too bad to bear them, see

    Hopeless, hapless sinners we

Who can't tell an apple from the tree,

    Who cannot cope with reality.

    Let Jesus carry it all

While we go out and have a ball.!

    Let Jesus be the buffer

So we don't have to struggle and suffer.

Find any way you can to drain

The wisdom from each man's brain.

    And commit deceitful treason

Accept by faith this circular reason:

That the Bible is God's only word

    Because it says it is:

    How absurd!

If a man searching deeper for accurate answers refuses to accept by faith the circular reasoning of the Bible, does that make him closer or farther from God? I would say closer, because he is taking responsibility to use his God-given mind to know and understand. He is not just blindly following a mantra, but trying to take responsibility that his mind be in agreement with truth, and therefore with God.

If a man goes through life questioning that the "god" many others claim is God is not real, then he is doing better than the blind follower. He is striving for truth, wheras the blind follower is just following along and not struggling to know anything for himself. Since there is evil in the world the blind follower is the one on shaky ground. He is looking no further than a book, a book that has undergone a great deal of manipulation and editing through the centuries by people who had agendas. He is not trying to know what is true from his own wisdom and experience and therefore is ripe to fooled and used.

I think there is a hell and God punishes people for not striving to be their best and know what is true. I believe many practicing Christians already spend a lot of time in hell for thinking they have all the answers and others don't. No doubt they do know some truth, but they only know a scrap of it and think they know it all. There are people all over the world, believers and non-believers who possess insight into truth. Any religion that thinks it has a corner on the truth likely doesn't.

  • the man's belief

I think that the honest man will be sent to where ever his beliefs say a person goes after death, depending on thier life. Perhaps he believes in reincarnation. Or just a "good place" and a "bad place". It just depends on the person.

  • It depends

I personally believe that most people that are sent to Hell would rather be there. I mean, in the Bible, it not only asks you to believe in God, but to submit to his will. I mean, the demons and Satan believe in God. They believe that he exists, but they refuse to submit to his dominating force. And that is why they are in Hell. I personally feel this isn't a good or bad situation, for some people would rather suffer than live under a dominating force. I an honest man died, but had not yet submitted to God's authority, I personally feel he will go to Hell, but a man that doesn't want to submit would rather be in a place like Hell. Unlike most people, I personally don't think you have to address God as God, Jesus, etc. I personally believe that you don't have to go to church every Sunday to be intact with God. God is everywhere, not just in the hearts of saints or in churchs. I personally feel that God is in whore houses and crack houses as well as in the houses of saints. I personally think that God isn't as close-minded towards people who aren't super religious as church people. God opens his arms to everyone, not just saintly people.

  • The answer (as most answers are) is in the bible!!

The answer of course is yes, an honest man who doesn't believe in God will go to hell. But a better question is.. what is hell? Do you really believe that a LOVING God would send people to be eternally tortured in hell? What kind of loving parent would torture their own child forever and ever? Especially when Ecc 9:5 says the dead are conscious of nothing at all, then how in the world could they be tortured? The only way to make sense of it is to realize that the eternal torment mentioned in Rev 14:9-11 and Rev 20:10 refers to eternal destruction. Fire has always symbolized complete destruction and thats what it means here again. It is torment because there is no chance of relief, there is no chance of a resurrection, satan, and his demons and all the wicked ones who choose to follow him will be condemned to a second death (Rev 21:8) where there will be eternally destroyed (2 Thes 1:9). The Bible often talks about resurrection and there will be a resurrection after armageddon. As Rev 20:13,14 says, "and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." So there is your answer to your friend the honest man who died but did not serve god. There will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous (Acts 24:15). You see, God is a just God and everyone will have a chance to know him and serve him in either this life or the next. Yes, God is definitely just, wise, and loving.

  • Hope not!

Well, wouldn't be silly if you had a loved one die who was an honest and a good person, not beliving in god,and burning in hell forever because he never belived in god?I think we aren't to judge, but i also belive one should not be sent to a pit of fire forever because we don't belive in god.

  • One Bible Verse Says It All

God doesn't sen people to hell, they choose, yes, but if the person is not a follower of Christ, he or she will go to hell. In John 14, Jesus says, and I quote: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one gets to the father except through me." It's that simple, people!

  • Does It Matter?

I don't believe in God, I don't believe in religion, I don't believe in Heaven or Hell.

When I die, I will be cremated and that'll be the end of me. (or you get eaten by worms - your choice)

  • Good grief!

For those of you who believe in an all-knowing God as defined by Christianity, are you saying that you truly believe good people who have different beliefs, or those who may never have been exposed to Christianity, or perhaps died in infancy without having a chance to even know about this God, will all be condemed to eternal damnation? Are you saying it is THEIR choice they went there? I fail to see the "just, wise, loving" God in that.

    Good grief, people!

  • Gods election

First, there are no honest men , second we live under grace and not the law,and finaly God forgave all of his people, His elect[not all mankind]because of the sacrifice of his son. There were no requirements , not circumscission, nor repentance , nor belief, if he elected one , he did so before the begining of the world, and jhe did not fail in redeaming them, not one who god wants in heavon will be in hell, not a single one of his , and not a single child of peredition will be in heaven, they are not his neather can they be or become his.over the years , man has sought many avenues in which he might claim his salvation as his own doing, non of them , not one, has been agreed upon by the god who made the rules and rules that which he made

  • god, heaven and hell dont exist

there is a second world. where EVERYONE goes when they die. and until the great war between the two worlds no one will see this unless you listen closely to what the spirits say and believe. to read more upon this subject please see my blog at myspace.com/mcrdevotee.

  • I doubt it.

If the christian god does exist, I don't think he'd send a good person to hell for not believing in him. At most, he'd probably just "silly mortal" and let them in. It's a bit too contradictory to the overall tone of the bible which is that he's forgiving and loving and not a prick.

Interesting side-note. Around sixth grade I hypothesized that everyone goes where they think they'll go. So aetheists get nothing, Christians get heaven, Buddhists get reincarnation, etc.

  • What is hell?

The key to this question is in understanding the concept of 'hell'. To answer this question, I will propose another question, "what is heaven?". Heaven is the place for those who are closest to God. One becomes close to God by living a life that is in accordance with God's ways, i.e. love, generosity, honesty, righteousness, etc. To get back to my point, hell is simply the absence of God. Those who live evil lives hurting others and caring only for themselves, find themselves, in the other world, far away from God, because they cannot relate with God. Those who lived a 'good' life but did not believe in God would not go to hell, but would not go to heaven either. How would a person's spirit be in resonance with a place that is in-tuned with a being that person did not believe in? There are varying degrees between hell and heaven and the person goes to the place in which he/she feels is most right for them.
