It’s the coward’s way out. It takes more of a man or woman to face life than to run from it.

Selfish.11% Voted for by Ataria, GodforsakenTRAGEDY.
I lost a friend to suicide a little over a year ago...and losing him has helped me shape my opinion. Suicide is incredibly selfish and cowardly. It hurts me to say that because I hate to say something like that about a dear friend...but the truth of the matter is that suicide is the coward's way out...When a person commits suicide they are only thinking of themselves and their problems. They don't take the time to think about what their actions might cause.
I say that not only because of my friend, but there was a time in my life where I was suicidal. Thankfully, I got myself the help I needed. People who commit suicide are looking for ways to get themselves out of bad situations; that's exactly what I was doing. They do it in an attempt to put themselves out of their misery. As I said earlier....it's selfish.

Suicide is an option...11% Voted for by Launcelot, ytyt.
Suicide, despite popular belief, is not a cowardly, wasteful, or selfish thing entirely. To kill oneself is to override the natural want to survive and exist to spread ones genes. To overcome that natural urge to live takes both great strength and courage. If suicide is accomplished at the proper time, it is in fact not wasteful, but can actually be benificail to the community. Suicide can even be heroic in the sense of the selfless hero giving his/her life for a cause. If a human feels him/herself usless to society and no longer feels gratification from life, it is thier right to end themselves. My only wish is that for those who choose this path, do so with full knowledge of thier actions, and how to die safely and painlessly.

suicide is the desperate feelings of a person being amplified and acted upon. i have tried to commit suicide and ofrtunately was too afraid to go through with it. i think it is the only alternative a desprate person even thinks about. there is a soultion to the problem but when you are so far into the problem you see no solution….there is only one way out.

A total wasteVoted for by newuniverse.
Suicide is a waste fo a prefectly good body, perfectly good talent and a perfectly fixable life to be plain. It solves no problems. It creates a core of people who are left that will be forever damaged by the death. It is a selfish waste. There is an answer to depression and there is help out there for those who wish to turn to this option.

They are no different from other people except the fact that they are depresed, feel alone in this world, and they think that their only way out of a mess like that is to kill Take it from a person who was suicidal, and survived.

ACT OF FREE WILLVoted for by Paradise Lost.
It probably sounds harsh but it's a strong act of free will. You need guts to commit suicide. It is a sort of a solution but if it's right or wrong this should be a question. I think people with suicidal thoughts have got real issues. They cannot see through the darkness of their own mind. They live in the Limbo. Captured between life and death.Either something went wrong in their lives which they cannot cope with or they've got a chemestry problem in their brain or both.

I think it is stupid. If you are a person, then you probably have around 60 to 90 years to live. Why take away the rest of those years for a part of your life that you didn’t like. Happiness will come to you sometime!

~parasuicide...ever heard this before? yeah it is when people 'try' to commit suicide but for real they only want attention, they dontt really wanna die...I dont think there is anything wrong with this because if they are going to go to THAT length to get attention, they deserve it ~Ashes~

A downward spiralVoted for by Navi.
To commit suicide requires a world-view which doesn't take into account other people. I think most suicides are a product of a combination of depression and introspection, which leave the subject backed into a corner of nihilism, and incapable of any action by which to escape. He looks into himself, and can't find anything to hold onto. In the process, the subject fails to recognize the rest of the world as containing human beings, like himself, to whom he is capable of relating. Thus, existence itself becomes an unbearable inaction, and thus suicide, an action in and of itself, is a form of salvation.

Why?Voted for by LostWithoutYou14.
Why would you kill yourself just because you have problems at the time? And problem can be solved but suicide is so final, its not like you can erase it or take it back. Once you've commited it your gone forever leaving the ones you love behind never knowing how much more you hurt them. I know that people around me have wanted to commite suicide but they talk about it and they eventualy relize that its not the answer. You can always talk through it with the people who love you. Suicide is death and death is going to hurt the other people around you a lot more in the long run. So if you ever think about killing yourself just remember that all of your problems will eventually work themselves out but not if your dead. You have to be here for everything to be ok.
