Gays need more attention!

First, about the title. It's sarcasm. Next, my point. I'm tired of hearing gay people complain to the world about how people are disgusted by them. I know, there's bigotry out there, but when you get down to it, everyone is a member of some hated group, and has an equal claim to throw screaming bitch fits around every turn. For instance, I'm a white male. Because of affirmative action, I am at a disadvantage when applying to a job that is also being applied to by a black female. When I go to a black neighborhood I risk getting mugged. I've been the victim of racism on a mostly black football team. I've been exiled from multiple cliques for my religious beliefs. I don't complain, because that's just how it is. People suck. I'm no Ghandi. I don't think anyone should take it up the ass and do nothing to fight back, but I don't believe that posting topics titled, "I Hate Heterosexuals" and the like, will make even the slightest change in the opinion of the gay community. Well, I recant that statement. I believe that aggressive, gay rights activists actually annoy the heteros, and demean the intelligent gays who actually take the time to get into politics, law, law enforcement and other such fields where a real difference can be made. Protest has its place. Protesting a ban of gay marriage is reasonable, drawing attention to a gay bashing organization is reasonable, but posting whiny little threads all about the internet with no real purpose other than to pronounce a gays sexual orientation, doesn't seem to me a worthwhile venture.

  • you know what

i hate feminists. all they do is complain about how they were mistreated in the past. Well wake up women! Ya got the advantage now! no one is denying you jobs because you are a woman! to those around here, that is scarcasm, i think feminism is fine, post topics, but lets remember, talking it up actually changed peoples minds. same with black rights.

hey, the only way people are going to except homosexuality is is people talk it up. seriously, would you change something you know nothing about? knowledge is power, if you dont see that, your lost.

if no one knew about the Sudan genocide, do you think anyone is going to try and help them?

Oh, and as a closing point, I'm glad you support all those people who stand outside their churches and hold up signs saying all homosexuals will burn in hell. they thankyou for your support.

  • Affirmative action?

"Because of affirmative action, I am at a disadvantage when applying to a job that is also being applied to by a black female."

Really? Affirmative action is used to help minorities get into college, smart one.

And because you didn't know that and tried to use a misconstruation of the fact to further gross intolerance, whatever argument you had just went out the window.

I am gay and I will complain when my brothers and sisters are brutally bludgeoned to death in America or executed by the government in Islamic nations.

Just as I will complain when there really are laws the prevent white males from getting a job.

  • Positive Discrimination is a con

I can't stand it when people say we have to have positive discrimination in a politically correct society (who even wants to be PC these days?). If you positively discriminate for someone, then you negatively discriminate against someone else. Isn't Western civilization supposed to be based on meritocracy - where you earn once you have proven your capabilities, not becuase of government targets.

    One amazing example:

I live in the South-West of England. A few months back a local police force was recruiting. Out of about 200 white males who applied, guess how many were interviewed? Not offered a job, just interviewed? None!!! Out of all the Asian, black and women candidates, how many of them were interviewed? All of them. One of the white men had been in the army for five years - had good qualifications etc... - perfect candidate in a meritocracy - turned down flat. Fifty of the non-white male candidates were deemed to have sub-standard levels of English, which should mean they can't be on the police force - wrong! They all got through. An independent review stated that three of them held 'offensive attitudes to certain members of the public' - women, but yet the police force emplyed them. When it came out in the papers, the force said they had to employ positive discrimination to meet government targets. That is rubbish. they turned down decent candidates in favour of people who can't speak English!!!

So, I agree with you. I am bisexual, but don't think that should give me any extra rights. I hate Christians preaching at me - it is their lifestyle choice, I don't want to know. You can have your own groups and your interests aren't interfered with, so why cause a problem?

On a slightly seperate note, why is it that organizations (police force, universities etc...) can set up 'afro-caribbean', 'asian', 'lesbian' etc ...societies, but if I try to set up a white society I would be called a racist?

  • Agree

They already have a freakin parade! What more do they want?

When asked, I tell the truth. I don't agree with homosexuality, but wont judge a person on their sexual orientation. After hearing this both gays and straights treat me like I'm some kind of monster. Seems like the world wont be happy until everyone has the same opinion.
