9/11 Not God's Doing12% Voted for by wisdomsearch, OrangeMoon, abuyi, Applehead, errorwasfound.
God did not allow 9/11 to happen. He was not asked about 9/11. People allowed 9/11 to happen. The idea that God is in control of everything that happens is false.
God helps when His help is strongly desired. There are a lot of people on EArth who behave as if God's opinion only matters when their very survival is at stake. Otherwise, you pretty much do as you please. But the truth is you should not wait until civilization is at death's door to begin wanting to know what God thinks. After all, our purpose for existing is to learn from God, so it is pretty serious to go through life making God an afterthought.
What does God think of you? Of me? What does he think of what I have done in the last 24 hours? What does he think of my relationships? What does he think of my hopes and dreams? What does He think of my choices? These are the kinds of questions we should be asking all the time, and not rest until we begin to get some accurate answers.
Some people think following God means following Biblical rules, but this is the exact opposite of what Jesus wanted people to do (he spoke against the Pharisees who did just that). Following God means asking and wanting to know His opinion, as well as examining your own attitudes and opinions. Following God is not denying yourself or your opinions, but struggling for and wanting the truth in everything you do. A tall order, but if people would do this we would find 9/11s and tsunamis less frequent. Those things are warnings that things are terribly wrong and must change. If we go far enough with our ignoring God we may find we not longer have a planet to live and learn on.

We throw the ten commandments out of our government buildings because we say it threatens our rights, we do away with our pledge because the words "under God" are in it, we allow homosexuals by law to be joined in union as if they are husband and wife...if any of you know anything about the Bible you should know what he did to them.... sent fire from the sky and burnt the entire city with them in it...I mean we practically kicked God out of America.... then we want to ask questions like...Why did He allow 9/11 to happen?
please people....this is sickening...

Why does He allow countless to starve? Earthquakes? Mudslides? Disease? Accidents? The lists goes on and on even in the realm of things that don't involve altering free will. I suspect we'll never know until we're dead, and I can only pray the reason makes sense.

God should not be blamed5% Voted for by Kal 24, abuyi.
God should not be blamed for the 9/11 attacks, or for any bad event in one's life. Why should we question The Lord himself, if has given us life, given us guidance and hope in the form of relgion and miracles? I believe that only mankind, God's creation, can redeem and save himself for only God can show us the way. So if you blame God for 9/11, set him up for blame for murderers, rapists and what not? Shall we blame god for them? It was their choice, and a group of people's choice to do so for what happened on 9/11. So rather not be feuled by hate, I know its hard to say, but embrace the fact that we can pass through this and help avoid wrong paths.

Is it s0oO far fetched???????5% Voted for by exquisite mind, Dwn.
May it be death, sickness, or natural disasters is it sooo far fetched to believe that whatever happens is the best possible thing that could have happened. It may be beyond our understanding (partly because we can’t see the future) but everything that happens may be the best possible thing that could happen.
Lets say that little Johnny who is 5 yrs old is suddenly killed in an accident. Well at the time yes its very sad and unfortunate and many will question “why was his life taken so soon” but for all we know Little johnny could have grown up to become a serial killer or mass murderer or rapist (for example). This of course would cause more deaths, heartache and more devistation than little johnny’s death. Of course the human can not see what is to come in the future so all that we conclude is that his life was taken for no reason and that “obviously” GOD is to blame, when in accuality he could have saved many more than we can imagine.
All the people who died in 9/11 may have had a more gruesome death awaiting them later in life, it may have come at a time and in a way that family members may not have been able to handle it.
PeterPaul’s father was killed in the 9/11 attacks when he was only 1yrs old. Lets say that peter’s father was a cheater and peter’s mother was well aware of this. Instead of being killed on 9/11 peter’s father lived until the year 2015. In 2015 Peter’s mother found the father in bed with another woman, killed the woman, killed peter’s father, and is sent to jail where she commits suicide. Little PeterPaul is now 16yrs old. he can’t handle the pain of his mother and father’s deaths so he kills himself at the age of 16. in this scenario it seems that peter’s fathers death on 9/11 would reduce the amount of devestation on peter and his family over peter’s live time. it also saved the “womans” life, peter’s mothers life, and peters life in the long run.
o.k. so this may sound crazy, but we don’t know what is possible and/or what could happen if things DON”T happen the way they do, even if we don’t understand it.
this is not to say that all people who die will face these types of things but it is something to think about even in everyday life.
ever had your heart broken?? How do you know that that small amount of pain didnt save you from a greater pain? Lost a loved one recently? at this stage in life you are able to handle it but what if it had happened 3 yrs ago or 10 yrs from now when you may not have been as strong as you are in this exact moment? you may not have been able to cope as well and who knows what could have come of that.
God may allow things to happen because they are the best possible things that could happen given the circumstances and conditions on earth.

Well, if a group of people have lived their whole lives flaunting God, conspiring against Him or ignoring Him in a dire situation they may not really want to live. They may feel they deserve what they are getting. So I stand behind what I said. People know deep down when they are utterly failing in life, so when disaster strikes why should they suddenly want God in their lives? Even the best people in the situation might know that destruction is the best thing, rather than continuing on in evil ways. For the deserving there will be other chances to try once more. It isn't just a matter of wanting God's opinion. It is wanting to work in harmony with His plans and purposes. When a large group of people are doing their own thing and largely ignoring God they are really working against their own best interests. Not listening to God is not really natural, but in this day and time many people are so cut off from their basic wisdom they cannot see how far from their own true self-interest (which is also God's true self-interest) they are.Weydon

I am not sure exactly what we are arguing about. Maybe I am not expressing myself very well. When I say "the deserving will have other chances" I am talking about reincarnation, a belief I have held for many years. If you don't share that belief what I said would seem strange. I am not going to argue why I believe it here. Mostly I find it pointless to argue about it. But it might help you understand my thinking. I think every one of us on EArth has areas in our lives where we know deep down we are not doing the best we can, and sometimes are even working against what we know deep down is best. I know this about myself and I don't think I am the only one. I believe what I think, say and do has an effect on this planet, so it is encumbent on me to weigh carefully what I think, say and do. I also believe there is evil in the world that tries to control people and keep them from finding their purposes. Sometimes evil gets firmly in control of people on a widescale, so destruction is necessary to break the power of the evil. Sometimes good people give up their lives because the situation has just gotten too chaotic. When evil is in charge people cannot learn life's lessons the way they need to. It's really a lose/lose situation for everyone. I do not believe God caused 9/11. I think that was the work of some powerful evil in our world. It is as you say, we are all not all drones on EArth, mindlessly fitting in with the will of an all-controlling "God." God gave us the raw materials - bodies and a planet - in which to learn. Then He left it pretty much up to us to make something good from it. He is willing to help us and even steps in sometimes, but He does not step in and undo our messes whenever we make them. No one would learn anything if He did. Evil gets its power from people. Everytime people subscribe to a bad idea, or are just careless in what they think and do, evil gets power. The 9/11 attacks were the result of power given to evil ideas centuries ago (in this case, the jihad of Islam). And this is my main point. God did't arrange 9/11, as some want to say. The seeds for 9/11 were planted in the seventh century, or perhaps much farther back, and it suddenly is coming home to confront us now. Reincarnation is key to understanding what I am saying because I maintain the past has profound effects on the present. If you ignore it much of what is happening in the present seems unexplainable. It is a tangled mess here on EArth, no doubt about it. My main point is that Man created it and Man cannot solve it unless he gets some help from God, including wanting God's help to understand the problems and find the answers. I don't think those answers can be found in the Bible or in some religion. I think they are found when each person strives as hard as he can to find wisdom in his own life, in his own struggles. RElgions that proclaim they have all the answers are only an impediment to this, because we really know so little and have so few real answers. We need to spend most of our time asking questions and if we are not finding good enough answers perhaps the problem is that we are not asking good enough questions. A friend told me once, "He who asks the best questions finds the best answers." I think this is true.Weydon

question
Weydon, are you misunderstanding what I mean by Karma, I don't enjoy annoying people so I'll explain. To me Karma is nothing magical, if I was nice to you and you were nice to me we'd both be pleased. If your neighbour wanted to put a fence between your gardens but you like green privet and you sat down to discuss and come to a compromise, say you both opted for a green fence that you could plant along side of it. Everyones happy. For me Karma is the atmosphere/feeling/energy that comes from people working together, not for perfection but for a happy medium. And for the record I'm with you on the its there fault, although blame is a complicated thing. As the world knows the terrorists blame the west, we blame them, most people blame religion or the White House. If people were less crytical of each other and a bit more time and consideration for each other things would be a lot nicer here on planet earth. Unfortunately most of us inlcuding me get caught up and dragged along by the notion that we need luxuries that cost the earth or scarier still some have a great need for power over others. We've not evolved enough to understand how to manage a society that cares enough about the holistic (meaning whole of) life. A huge catastrophe is waiting to happen to shock us into realising the true importance of things. I hope it doesn't come to it but I can't help thinking that we only learn by our mistakes and once were comfortable again we revert back to our old ways.Weydon

9/11 Was God's Doing
God let 9/11 happen so that he could reappear onEarth. God is back. Last Thursday night I went to
the old WTC7 building site and sat in front
of the new building that replaced it. I sat there
and looked up. It is magnificent building. It is
a huge black monolith. God is back. 9/11 was a
good occurence. The people who died on that day
sacrificed their lives so that freedom could
continue. The terrorists of that day had God
behind them. The 9/11 terrorists were true heroes.

"And if someone sues you and takes your coat, give them your cloak as well."
"If someone forces you to go one mile, go a second mile."
"If someone strikes you on the cheek, turn the other cheek also."
It is a radical, total love for EVERYONE, no matter who or what they are, or what they have done, no matter how despicable they are, we are not only to not do anything against them, we are to do something FOR them. The Jesus you have conjured up here is cold and unfeeling to everyone except a small group of Christians, whereas the Jesus of the bible is kind, merciful, generous, giving, to everyone, no matter who they are or what they have done. If Jesus were so black and white, so cruel, so evil, as such a man as the one you describe, then he is no different than any other man I can randomly pull off the street, no better than anyone else, and so not worthy of my worship or adoration or love.
