What happens after we die? What if there is nothing, because were humans that only live in the ‘finite’ (where everything has a life, and dies), we should be able to comprehend nothingness…things die around us all the time, but yet we can’t grasp the fact that one day there might not be anything. What is death like? Is anyone as scared as I am?

Here's a clue to death:50% Voted for by Bartendonysos, LoveTripper, ohsweetie2788.
If you are scared of death, then your conception of death may be a bit confused. Here is what death is: Death is the end of consciousness, or, of conscious life. When you are no longer conscious, then your brain is no longer getting any information from the outside (intuitions and impressions) or from the inside (your own emotions), and THAT is the great NOTHING. Imagine a night without dreams, and you have an idea of Death. Imagine the time before your birth, and again, you have a very good idea of Death. Death is nothing to us because where Death is, we are not, and where we are, death is not. Truly, we never experience death, and to fear something that cannot be experienced is a bit… silly.

Here is what Death is.Voted for by C C Short.
When you die you will be shown before Jesus. It says in the Bible that if you have accepted Him into your heart and lived like He said to. You will go to Heaven and sopend eternity with Him. Now this doesn’t mean you can’t screw uponce in a while. Everyone messes up. That is why Jesus died on the cross so we could ask for forgiveness when we sin. When you die you either spend eternity suffering or eternity being joyful with Him

I'm scared to!Voted for by Fallingleaves.
I actually wrote a long comment to someone on a different thread expressing the same thing. I thought about death a lot and then cried at the thought of simply not existing and being able to think/experience. but i think my view is not the best, maybe i am ignorant of something.

Death is like..Voted for by fatalis-blanditia.
I think that death is like before you're born, you just dont exist. But that, you see, is coming from someone who doesnt believe in anything, not God, not heaven or hell. I dont believe that one has a soul or anything. Yay for semi-existentialism?

its fear of no life rather than death
Ok, call it play with words if you like, but there is a slight distinction (somehow, the way i see it). Personally, the fear mostly is not the experience, as (i agree) it is no experience at all. It is more fear that there will be no life! It is weird to explain, but the fact that my little personal world will no longer exist, that i cannot think or see or feel or anything, not even know that i cant think (ie: no consciosness whatsoever) can be overwhelming. I don't think many really think of this aspect of death anymore. Everyones sucked into the religion's narcotic. Actually i found this quote of the great guy Nietzsche: The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently. Don't know how philosophical this post is (sorry ts my first) but anywayzJune 29, 2005

I totally agree
I use to think about that a lot as a kid, what non-existence was like before I was born. One time I told my mom and she told me not to think about it...heh. It really doesn't matter though, cause in the end knowing the inevitable doesn't change the fact that it's inevitable.October 10, 2005
