  • Death, HAH!

Death is something that all life has to deal with. It is a matter of our cells and organs aging or getting to the point of stop working. +, iit is population control. lol

  • without death

without death the earth would be overrun with plants and animals and people and without death we would not have meat to eat or plants to eat because they would not die but live inside of us. things need to die to keep earth moderately populated and to keep the ecosystem balanced.

  • We Start Dieing When Were Born

From the time were brought into this world, to the time we turn 40, were dieing. Little by little, and piece by piece. Just think about it, when your born, your growing, only your not growing to live, your growing to die. It’s a harsh way of putting it, I know, but it’s what really happens.

  • When we have nothing left to do

We die because we have fulfilled our purpose. Plants die because we forget to water them. We are obviously on a different level of existance than plants, but back to my first point: we create our purpose, we fulfill it, we die and do it again somewhere else. Dying isn’t dying as we think it is. Dying is simply closing one book and opening another.

  • Elementary Science and the Bible...

Newton's laws of thermodynamics: every system that is set in place (i.e. the human body) slowly degrades over time, and will eventually cease to exist. Random cellular mutations and hormonal imbalances, among many other factors, make death an inevitability, barring major scientific advances that aren't even close to being on the horizon any time soon. Now, as far as the religious (or at least Christian) standpoint, since it was (incorrectly) brought up, I will clarify. "The wages of sin is death." There you have it. Blame it all on Adam and Eve. Original sin caused the downfall of the system God had set in place. As far as this "following Christ's example" bull, Christ died to save mankind from the penalties of sin, if they accept his pardon. Jesus Christ, have any of these people ever even seen a real Bible? I'm a friggin' Taoist/Buddhist, and I know more about Christianity than most people who profess to be Christians. If there is any Christian who actually understands anything about Christianity, be afraid: these "false prophets" are sowing the seeds of discord in your midst.

  • wow..
This if REDICULOUS, the world is over populated as is, complete world immortality, is an oxy-moron, if everything lived and new lifes were constantly brought in, food would diminish along with natural recources and EVERYTHING WOULD DIE, and say u chastise the world, and control birth steralize every being, then when things die of unnatural causes and the exhistance of man fails you die anyway LIFE IS DEATH accept it, Embrace it, because thereis no way around it

  • Because we are imperfect

I’m starting to sound like some kind of religious freak. Anyway because I have read the bible many times (hey it’s a great book!) I can pretty much answer any question related to it. So as the good book says at Romans 6:23 “The wages sin pays is death..” so we all sin so we all die it’s that simple. If you disagree then who cares your going to die anyway!

  • Don't Know.

A better question might be: why must we die against our own wills? From what I see, there a few things that happen against our will: 1. We are born. 2. Our hearts beat and our lungs breathe (you cannot hold your breath and die… you just pass out and resume breathing). and finally, 3. We die.

  • die

we have to die for others to be born. It was a way of life the ‘circle’ as they call it. Death is a part of life- everyone has to cope with it and go through it!

  • Bodies not Designed To Live Forever

This subject has nothing to do with overpopulation, fate, or any other of that nonsense. The reason we die is because human beings are not designed to live forever.

    Deal with it.

  • death like a new birth

Think of death as a new birth. Just as the baby fears leaving the comfort of its mother’s womb all turns out good. I believe we are here temporarily for the purpose of learning to perfect love to the best of our ability. Jesus came to show us how and the way if we so choose and desire to be one with Him in love in the next life.

  • Pff, biology..

Everyone here is giving a biological (cells dying n’ such) answer, or something like.. ‘because if there wasn’t death there would be too many life forms on the planet.’ Well, hey, for now let’s assume that if there was no death then there would be no reproduction. For the sake of philosophy, mmkay? If that were the scenerio, THEN why would there need to be death? Think of it philosophically – not socially or biologically. Now, I don’t really know why there is death, then.. but perhaps others can make some speculations.

  • Living Again

Without death then what’s the point in life? We all have to die so life can keep going on this planet. But you should be so bummed about dying because eventually you’re gonna come back anyway, it’s called “Reincarnation.” Whether you believe in it or not, it’s real; I have lived over 13 lives on this Earth and all in different time periods. My point is everyone dies so they can live again. Natural order of things.

Without death then there is no life to live.

  • "Who wants to live for ever?" someone said...

Could you possibly imagine living as we do today, forever? Besides the body, the mind simply isn't designed for it. Gradually there would be no incentive to do anything with the present when you have for ever to do it in. Life would eventually grind to a stale, unispried halt. Death is most natural part of life. It defines life.

Immortality is a sad and lonely thing, as Tolkien reminds us.

"But you....my daughter....you will linger on in darkness and doubt as nightfall in winter that comes without a star. Here you will dwell....bound to your grief, under the fading trees, until all the world has changed and the longer years of your life are utterly spent. "

    No, immortality is unimaginable.

  • Its Not Population control

One could imagine a world were life spans were 200, 500.. years and so on. The fertility rates or cycle of childhood to adult could be drawn out. Truth its all a matter of DNA, respiration with oxygen radicals.

The fact we breathe speeds up the degradation of DNA. So in theory perfect cellular reproduction in principle could keep us alive thousands of years, the way biology operates assures we will age and grow old. The fact hair grows grey means the pigment cells have lost the original information to color hair. Grey hair is simply non-pigmented hair. Now, I ask, given the limitations of human intelligence, would any of you truly wish to live even two hundred years. Things begin to get rather boring !
