Do You Dream Every Single Night?

Experts say we fall into a deep “rem” sleep every single night. Realm sleep is when we have rapid eye movements and it usually signals a dream is taking place. Most experts say we dream every night whether we remember them or not.

Do you think you dream every night? Do you usually remember your dreams?

  • .

I think you meant REM sleep, not realm sleep. we actually have distinct stages of sleep every night, changing in duration as the night goes on. but yes we dream every night, though we may or may not remember doing so. if someone wakes you up during REM sleep, you are likely to remember it.

  • Dream Experiences

Dreams are always there, no matter what we think. Even if we cannot remember the dreams, that does not go to say that we have not had them. There are so many possible experiences that one’s mind has gone through in dreams… and we just do not know it.

  • Some even prophetic.

Dream every night in vivid color and remember most of them. Some even prophetic. BTW, I love that picture. It’s priceless.

  • As an absolute, No.

I have insomnia, and don’t usually sleep well. I think the less easy the sleep, the more common the dreams. The only dreams I really remember are the ones I wake up in the middle of. So if you dream ABSOLUTLEY EVERY TIME YOU SLEEP: No. But definitley most. Because, even if I can’t remember what the dream was, (you always lose them), I can remember I had one, and I was remembering it once.

  • We always dream

we always dream, your brain has to have something to do so it creates dreams, mostly when we wake up we forget all those dreams but are sometimes reminded of some of those dreams.

i remember a dream i had the night before every morning, but i think we dream a lot more than we think, remember, or care to remember! i kinda think that dreams have meanings too, and show you about yourself, wether by literally showing you or by using objects/situations that represent something to you. ya know?

  • Interpretting Dreams?

Dreams are facisnating..Dreams juxtaposed to our regular days and sometimes even become nightmares..dreams that are unpleasent at times.

So when it comes to where dreams simply are symbolic, do you believe they actual have MEANINGS and DEFINITIONS to them or just plain random?

  • Of course

I think that if you sleep, you dream. I hardly remember mine, but I'm sure they're there anyways. (This kind of seems like a "Does god really exist?" sort of question...)

  • Couldn't Say

—I'm one of the ones who never remembers whether a dream took place or not. The most I've ever felt is a slight sense of some kind of deja vu whenever I try to remember what I was dreaming, but I am NEVER certain whether it was something I dreamed the previous night... or just imagined on the spot. They're much too intangible for my subliminal mind to grasp ahold of I guess (like they don't deserve a place in my memory bank because they're not real).

  • Dream A Dream!

I believe that the experts are right, simply because it all seems too complicated to disagree and to come up with anything logical to explain dreams. I think that we do dream many dreams at night and that dreams are when we let our imaginations ‘run wild’.

I do remember my dreams but only for about a minute after I have woken up. Most of my dreams are very complicated and muddled up (They just don’t make any sense)... I think this can be explained by the fact that we have more than one dream a night. I think that it all just gets too much to make sense of so that’s why we give up trying a few minutes after waking up.

  • Dreams as a guide through life

Since a few years now I'm using dreams as a guide through life. Yes we dream many times each night, and not only during REM sleep. A REM period roughly occurs every 90 minutes during the night, but their length increases steadily. After 8 hours of sleep you can have a REM period up to an hour! So if you're lucky you can remember 5 dreams each night.. and if you're really lucky you can use dream manipulation to extend that number to 8 or more. My average is about 2 to 3 detailed dreams each night, and with some practice it's not difficult to achieve. As long as the willpower is there to succeed. For instance you could use incubation or selfhypnosis during the evening to increase dream recall. Or you could command yourself to lay still the moment you awake in the morning. This way your mind keeps detached from external stimuli, thus increasing the chance of remember a dream fragment. When you have one dream fragment, you can use it to rebuild most parts of the dream. It just takes a little practice to master it. As for the influence of dreams.. well I can definitely say that I've learned much much more about myself through dreams than psychiatrists could ever tell me. The symbolic nature of dream symbols can sometimes be so immensely striking by hitting you in the face that it leaves no doubt about the metaphorical nature of the dream. It's amazing to work with this gift of nature, but unfortunately it's equally amazing to realize how Western culture has largely condemned the practice of dreamwork to the realm of superficial astrology and alike.. which is really sad and tragic, as dreams can open doors and pose questions of which you even didn't know they existed.

  • Always.

Yes, we have some sort of mental images passing through our minds each night. We go through a cycle that lasts about 90 minutes. Stage 1 Sleep is experienced as falling to sleep and is a transition stage between wake and sleep. Many people call this "half-awake" or "half-asleep". It usually lasts between 1 and 5 minutes. This stage is longer if you have insomnia or a sleeping disorder. Stage 2 Sleep comes next and is the "baseline" of sleep. It is the longest sleep stage. Stage 3 and 4 or Delta sleep comes next -- there is a very vague transition between 2 and 3. "Delta" sleep or "slow wave" can last 15-30 minutes. It is called "slow wave" sleep because brain activity slows down dramatically from the "theta" rhythm of Stage 2 to a much slower rhythm of 1 to 2 cycles per second called "delta". For most people these two stages are completed within the first two 90 minute sleep cycles or within the first three hours of sleep. Delta sleep is the "deepest" stage of sleep and the most restorative -- this is that stage in sleep where you can sleep even if a bowling alley is in your room. It is delta sleep that a sleep-deprived person's brain craves the first and foremost. Kids change to delta sleep really fast, that is why they sleep so deeply. Stage 5 is REM (Rapid Eye Movement Sleep), which is a very active stage of sleep. Our breathing, heart rate and brain wave activity quicken. Vivid Dreams can occur. It is called "REM" rapid eye movement sleep because if one is to watch a person in this stage, their eyes are moving a lot (you can see wiggly eyelids). After REM stage, the body usually returns to Stage 2 sleep. This repeats till your body says WAKE UP!

So yes, you always have at least one dream, even if you don't remember it.

  • Not every night

Not every night. I wish I do have them every night. but sometimes I wake up and I don't even remember if I had one or not.I love to dream even if it turns into a nightmare I still love it. It is a very nice feeling when you get scared to death...you wake up and still its just a dream... love it...
