Sex and Violence on TV

Why are television networks more forgiving to broadcasting violence as opposed to sex? More explicitly, why can you see someone being assassinated, but not get even a glimpse of their ass?

One is beautiful, fun, exciting and produces life. The other is ugly, painful, and destroys life.

  • consequences

the probability of some little 10 year old girl watching an assassination or gun fight on tv and then going out replicating what is seen is less likely than the probability that she will see a sex scene on tv, become aroused, get excited, and go out and try it.

also, the consequences of of a gun fight or assassination are visible (people die, people go to jail, etc.) where as the consequences or possibilities of a sex scene are not so clearly defined. in the sex scene will they put on a condom, right there on screen? of course not-- why? cause thats not GOOD t.v.

  • Americans are sexually repressed

Americans have no balls, and the ones that do are afraid to show them.

  • advertisements

The advertisements have all the sex in them, the shows have all the violence in them. If commercials got more violent, people would complain as much as if TV had more sex on it.

  • Music Videos

Are you guys sick of seeing the same barely clothed grinding BS on the Music channels. It drives me mad I can't put them on when the kids are at home because most of it is shocking. If a TV program wants to show something sexual, as long as the timings right thats ok. It does seem as though every adult show feels it needs to have some sex involved or no-one will watch. If thats the case we're all a bunch of perverts with one track minds (he he) sorry only kidding. Seriously I do think we've become desensitised and as the years progress things that are shocking now will seem trivial in the future (as has happened in the past), this is slightly worrying, if we exercise some concern about the things we expose ourselves to hopefully we might prevent some killings in schools etc, and I say some because obviously I realise T.V. isn't the only cause of madness. We are so spoiled with T.V. channels I am becoming more and more disinterested in watching anyway, I've seen most things twice or its not interesting anyway. Maybe I'll get back to nature and stop being such a softie who hides from the cold.

Theres one film I have to mention and it shocked me in a weird sick can't help but watch in wonder kind of way. The film is Gangsta No1. What a brilliant film! In the same thought my conscience is screaming how can you say that, it's bloody horrific. (no pun intended). But still I sat and watched, weird.

  • A tendency toward extremes?

I don't know how to say this well, but it seems that media is always trying to do something "more extreme" than the last... and the problem is not that there isn't enough SEX, but rather the sex we see is all perverted allusions to the real thing, masturbatory sexual bullying, the kind that small boys spew... Likewise, death is not presented as what it is--- the end of an existence -- but usually in the context of mass bloodshed, in heroicism, wars, murders, etc.... These extremes are making us SICK
