Well...28% Voted for by Stumbled Into God, dumb, Cornilius, sinful-cinnamon, ThisEndUp. (6 total)
If something terrible happened in the states, first of all you would get help if you asked for it. Second, you ask why everyone expects so much from the US? Because you do. All we hear about in the rest of the world, is how great you think you know you are (did that make sense?) Honestly, the US seems to think that the world belongs to them, and that there’s no one who knows anything better, or does anything better, than themselves. That’s why we expect so much. You say you can do everything, so do it!
(This is just my opinion, but a strong one… I realize that you’re not all like this, but this is what I see from the outside)

I wonder.....?9% Voted for by NeferMaatNetjer, looking4realtruth.
I wonder what the rest of the world would do if the USA just folded up shop and stayed home. No international trade, no foreign aid, no peace-keeping forces, no embassies. nothing. what if we closed up our borders, and let no new outsiders in as well? would they still find excuses to hate us? would they come begging to us to re-open trade and diplomatic ties? would they apologize for all the past abuse they heaped upon us?
How would they handle the next earthquake or tsunami without the aid of American relief efforts, knowing that they are now on their own to rebuild and save lives? how would they do it without the resources of the USA? Would they go into debt, as we have done, to help each other recover from a disaster or the deprivations of war? or would they fight amongst themselves for a bigger share of the cake? Those that truly appreciate what America does for the world showed themselves when hurricane Katrina struck, but for those that did not, don't scream rape when you need us and we are not there. And those who are our enemies, ponder this; If you succeed in destroying us, then it will fall upon you to fill the void we will leave when we are gone. Are you up to the task? are you ready to be, as Michael Dennis Rivers calls us, the stewards, of the world?

Stewardship9% Voted for by Michael Dennis Rivers, NeferMaatNetjer.
There is no question that the US is the most powerful country in the world. And the world (Earth) is the only know place in the Universe that has life on it so in effect, the USA... "WE ARE THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!" and as such, just like we recognize that we are the dominant species on the planet... there comes with this POWER, a responsibility. That responsibility is called stewardship. If this planet, GOD forbid, should have anything bad happen to it, either from within, (global warming gets the best of us) or from without (a meteor crashes into us) the blame will fall on the USA. Next, you ask, who will call us on a lapse of our stewardship???? No one will, all that will happen is that all this will end. It's that simple.

It's so cliche to put down the U.S., nobody likes the hero anymore.
People will probably say "what makes U.S. the hero?", but if you're wondering that then you shouldn't be saying anything at all.
Anyway, enough metaphorical speaking. I'm not sure why no one helps the U.S., but I see your point.

Nope.Voted for by Morgaine.
I don’t expect anything anymore from the US; the US just does what they want anyway, has nothing to do with expecting.

other countries expect help from the US, yet don't offer it to them, is because the US has all the money.. thats why others need it, yet can't give it. obvious.

You get helpVoted for by Stumbled Into God.
The US bring out this big front and act like they don't need help and like the person said above you only get help if you ask for it but US need to help in return like cutting the fossil fuel burnings down as if they do this they would be helping themself aswells as the rest of the world. The UK HELPED you in the wars and the US helped UK, we sent out money to charity for the Terrible Flooding which destoryed so much of New Orleans. So in return the US does get help and The US doesn't have put up a big front and as many people say don't act something your not...

we always feel we need to help out other nations wen they are in need becuase we are stronger than they are. since we are so independant and so self-reliant and rich (technically) we have the good heart to go help out, besides other countries can’t afford to help us if we have a true disaster like they have.

no one help's the helperVoted for by twistedstranger.
Because the United States has built themselves up to be the most independent and powerful country in the world, ergo, when we need help the world is in the mind state that we don’t need help.

although it is a generalisation...
i still agree that, in general, that is the impression that i get of the US. i dont mean to judge, that's not my intention... but let's remember... with great power comes great responsibility, and since the states are a powerful country, then a lot SHOULD be expected of them. i would not expect less from any other powerful country.Applehead
