Has anybody other than myself considered the depth and relevance of the stories that make up the Silent Hill video game series, or am I just have a screw loose?

The ONLY Philosophical GameVoted for by to-each-his-own.
Basically, I started this topic because I've noticed a stunning parallel between a video game called "Silent Hill" and the questions, answers, and assorted maxims/opinions about reality. I believe that although it's obviously formatted to stylistic melodrama for entertainment purposes, the Silent Hill stories are not just terrifying, but shockingly relevant and thought provoking. With the questions of what type of reality is reflected in a personality and what are we REALLY trying to say, these stories can easily be called the biggest, if not ONLY slice of food-for-thought that some nerdy old video game has ever produced...plus, it's pretty friggin artistic, don't you think? :]

Silent Hill
The basic plot line for the games are quite disturbing at best. The movie changes it a little but still stays true to it's legacy by it's purpose. My favorite one, Silent Hill 2, the storyline is that when James ( the main character) gets a letter from his wife. Who died 3 years ago, to come to a town named Silent Hill.
James and his previous wife, Mary, had come to this place a long time ago. Intrigued by the origin of this bewildering letter, he trudges on to Silent Hill.
It turns out that James is the murderer of his wife. He killed her out of spite for her being terminally ill. He has suppressed all memory of anything as such. The town becomes a living hell for him as he encounters people along the way, that just turn out to be a different part of who he is. Apparitions if you will.
James eventually, by surviving the hell, Silent Hill, and the dread Pyramid Head, he later finds out that he was the murderer of his own wife and the town in which he is now located has been placed as his own living hell.
The town is a purgatory to any that it calls to visit. Everyone has a purpose as to why they suffer in this forbidden township.
